Christianese: A Special Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. – John 14:27

The same Savior who declared peace over the raging wind and waves is the same Savior who tells us, ‘Let not your hearts be troubled.’ This is Jesus Christ, who is aware of His Father who loves Him with a perfect and everlasting love. This is the same Savior who says, ‘As my Father has loved me, so I have loved you’; By this great love He tells us not to be afraid, as we face this world consumed by fear, hate, and darkness.

…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7

We operate with, from and for an extraordinary peace that goes beyond doctrine, a peace that goes beyond reason bound by time and space. We operate from a Peace, more entity than theory, more known than learned… For Christ Himself is the Prince of Peace, and we are one with Him.

This Peace that is alive in us causes us not to be troubled, nor does it allow fear to shake us. This is a Peace which we need not analyze and understand more than we ought to know intimately.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

As Christ is everlasting, so we are one with peace that is as everlasting. We have peace over the trauma and the pain of the past. We have peace in anticipation of the future, knowing that whatever happens, we will never be separated from God. We have peace, yes, even right now, because Christ is alive, and so peace is alive in us.

In Christ, we have peace. This Peace keeps our hearts secure, and our minds stable. This is a Peace infinitely superior to the tribulations of this world, a peace that allows us to take heart. This is a peace that allows us not just to stand, but to walk, and to run forth, in genuine joy and contentment in a world where hate and poverty reign. This is a living Peace we possess in Christ, a revolutionary peace.
