1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: If a person sins unintentionally against any of the commandments of the LORD in anything which ought not to be done, and does any of them, 3 if the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, then let him offer to the LORD for his sin which he has sinned a young bull without blemish as a sin offering. 4 He shall bring the bull to the door of the tabernacle of meeting before the LORD, lay his hand on the bull’s head, and kill the bull before the LORD.
5 Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull’s blood and bring it to the tabernacle of meeting. 6 The priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil of the sanctuary. 7 And the priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before the LORD, which is in the tabernacle of meeting; and he shall pour the remaining blood of the bull at the base of the altar of the burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.

Looking at this with the Scofield Commentary:
The sin offering was fourth in the order of sacrifices, but the communication/introduction to this offering is ‘Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,‘; To some, this implied sin’s place and priority.
Ultimately, the sin and trespass offering were shadows of Jesus on the cross when He bore our sin. Something for us to keep in mind.
There were categories of sin. The position of the person determined the valuation of the sacrifice. The greater the position, the more costly the offering required.

The fat depicts all of Jesus’ perfection and the fat is known as the best part, and I remember learning that the fat is where all is absorbed.
Offal represents sin – fat/membrane covering internal organs.
Philippians 3:8 KJV
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.
Visceral fat is not offal. Visceral fat should be within normal levels. Offal is viscera or another term for innards.
Hebrews 13:11-13 NKJV
11 For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp.
12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
13 Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach.
There are degrees to sin, just as there are degrees to the position of the sinner. This leads towards us seeing Christ as the perfect sacrifice, perfect towards all degrees and positions.
11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
Hebrews 10:11-13
Reflection:
My initial thoughts – Sacrifices and sin; Sin-consciousness keeps you focused on the legalities, and the consequences.
Christ’s sacrifice allows you to live, truly, as a natural living sacrifice – not one bound/fixated by works.
Why is it necessary to know said degrees of sin? IMO there’s a different degree of appreciation of our salvation through Christ’s sacrifice, when we see all the impact of sin – its consequences, and complications;
And, there it is also – you see the complications involved, not only in atonement of sin, but going back to the ‘favor’ of the Most High, and holiness.
Also – it’s a better degree of appreciation in the sense that you understand the beauty of riding/driving a plane more when you remember the complications of walking. Crawling. Movement.
Discussion:
Even in the shadows, you see the foreshadowing. Indeed, it all points to Christ.
Appreciate the fixation on Christ. Appreciate the discussion beyond sin-consciousness. Sad that… well, it’s never going to leave. We will always have people who go as far as being pastors, but staying conscious in sin.
Shallow as ‘focus on Christ’ may seem, I’ll still take it over sin-consciousness.
From one attendee – Jesus wasn’t paying a debt to an angry God. He was fighting for the reconciliation for a world loved by a Father.
I could see how the sin offering was the fourth one – With all that we’ve been talking about, we wouldn’t really dwell on the technicalities of muscles and joints and footsteps, when we’re enjoying the plane.
We wouldn’t really dwell on punch cards when we’re already working with processors. We wouldn’t really dwell on dial-up when we’re already enjoying fiber-optic internet connections.
And… there it is.

We wouldn’t really dwell on repentance from dead works and of faith toward God when we’re already enjoying perfection. Fullness/completeness. teleiotēs / tel-i-ot’-ace / From G5046; (the state) completeness (mentally or morally): – perfection (-ness).
Even sin consciousness ought to lead the body, to Christ celebration.
If nothing separates us from the love of God, then everything truly reminds us of the love of God, through Jesus Christ.
