(A Terminus Ad Genesis, Appendix A… no, Part 3)
I called this an Appendix because these are mostly takeaway side notes from the Introduction to Strategic Missions event last July 4, 2026; To supplement other messages in the series.
Later on, you’ll read that there’s an actual main point – something that all my side comments actually pointed to.
Dammit, running on ~8 hours of false sleep. Not sure if I should have taken this cup of coffee here, but what the hell. Let’s hope our blood tests reveal what help I need.
There are still folks who like being servants of God more than sons and daughters of the Most High. More fixated on “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25), rather than “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters….” (2 Corinthians 6:18)
Did you want the world to end? Preach the Gospel to all the nations. The Gospel of the Kingdom is the greatest weapon of mass destruction.
See Matthew 24:14. Bullets and blades kill people. Explosives destroy buildings. Nukes wipe cities out. Pandemics paralyze continents. Propaganda sways the planet. Enough time erases creation. But preach the Gospel to all nations, and the end will come.
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”Revelation 5:9-10
- The Body of Christ shall be represented from every tribe, every tongue, every people, every nation. Every collective brought together primarily according to location, language, ethnicity and citizenship.
- You may need to differentiate method from target. Ex. Do you evangelize TO generations, or BY generations? Do you spread the Gospel TO the internet, or BY the internet?
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”Acts 1:8
- We can reach all areas at the same time. We don’t need to start with ‘just’ our neighbors. In today’s age with the advance of technology and with the overall increase of knowledge, I concur that we have the means to be witnesses to Christ to our neighbors, our families, our city, and everyone else… all at the same time.
Preach and multiply; You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:1-2
‘Slow is fast’. Quality guarantees quantity. Discipleship guarantees evangelism.
Build on the faithful, reliable men. Discipling done right is a self-sustaining, multiplying movement.
I am discipled by folks 10 years ahead of me. I disciple folks 10 years behind me.
Notes from Module 2: ‘The Mission’
‘God is a God of mission.’
‘All theology leads to missions theology’
‘The Bible is a book of mission.’
‘Jesus was a missionary.’
There are sects putting other things besides Christ on the pedestal. I shouldn’t be surprised that some folks put ‘missions’ up there too – along with tongues, prayer, worship, etc.
Let’s not append ‘mission’ to our values. Rather, let’s let these tools (missions, tongues, prayer, worship, etc) extend exclusively from the Word, from Christ, from God the Father, and from the Holy Spirit.
1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”Genesis 12:1-3
7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.Galatians 3:7-9
The body of Christ is the fulfillment of God’s covenant to Abram, then Abraham.
- Consequently, we are the fulfillment of God’s promise to David.
Blessings and greatness are a means to an end; Tools contributory to the fulfillment of the Mission.
9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, Youwereslain,Andhaveredeemed us to God by Your blood Out of which no one could number, every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”Revelation 5:9-10
9 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”Revelation 7:9-10
11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.2 Peter 3:11-13
The Body of Christ is an innumerable church representing every tribe and tongue and people and nation; They are kings and priests to our God; They have been cleansed and clothed with white robes, reigning on the earth while waiting with palm branches for the return of their Redeemer;
They look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells, all the while crying out, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb! Yes, the Lamb who was slain and who redeemed us to God by His blood!‘
We’re being reminded of our identity as the Good NewsWorldwideMission,Inc.
Thus far, our Mission is aligned with ‘God’s Mission’ per ITSM.
‘It is good to begin well… but it is also good to finish well.‘
ALWAYS evangelize to yourself. Evangelize, and not to proselytize. Preach, and not brainwash.
| Aspect | Evangelize | Proselytize |
| Focus | Sharing/proclaiming the message | Converting/recruiting others |
| Tone | Often invitational or proclamatory | Often implies active persuasion |
| Connotation | Usually neutral to positive | Frequently negative |
| Scope | Can be general sharing | More targeted at changing affiliation |
| Usage | Mostly religious (esp. Christian) | Any ideology or religion |
We’re rich, we’re just corrupt. Much of this has been said about the Philippines but we also say this about the body of Christ, sadly.
We’re rich, we’re just corrupt. And that corruption has its roots in fear. Fear manifests as corruption.
Good news is that the Body of Christ is expanding and simultaneously healing. Increasing in quality, simultaneously increasing in quantity.
True perfection is not binary/absolute; It is both measured AND increasing. Christ is beyond perfect. Thrice holy.
Evangelism (Mark 16:15,20), Discipleship (Matthew 28:18-19) – I suck at both. In the traditional sense.
Worldometers.info tells me a lot.
‘How did God save you?’ Keep asking yourself that. Keep asking others that.
Arrive at a point that you understand to share, share to understand in your conversations.
They’re asking us to be Acts 1:8 Christians but frankly I want our congregation to be Genesis – Revelation Christians.
This isn’t personalizing so far. This is more like conformity and I don’t like it. More like integration. Rebuke me if you must.
People would rather debate about grace instead of sharing it.
Rabbit Church vs Elephant Church
- Small vs Large
- Able to hide vs Easily seen
- Able to multiply vs Able to have many programs, etc.
- Low vs High Maintenance
E-1 to E-3 Evangelism – Varies in presence and then number of cultural barriers.
Also, Regular vs Frontier Missions – Regular is from one church to another church of a different culture. Frontier is from one church to another culture.
Prayer is the currency of the church.
The conclusion of the matter:
The collective actions and strategies for what we label today in contemporary Christianity as ‘Missions’ can find its foundations in the Great Commission – Matthew 28:18-20. We’re to look into projecting the Gospel of Christ to nations. When we think of Missions, we’re to think of engaging in Worldwide Mission just as much as sharing to our neighbors and to our circles of influence.
This Great Commission is performed naturally in observance to what Christ described as the first and second Greatest of Commandments, to a teacher of the Law: That is, to love God with all, and to love others as we love ourselves.
The tragedy is that in our own strength, or on our own, it is inevitable that we fall short of this, and actually all of the Commandments laid down to the nation of Israel. In other words, whether we are Jew or Gentile, we CANNOT come anywhere near consistent, excellent compliance towards God’s Law.
The Good News is that, in the fullness of time, Christ lay His life down for our discrepancies, satisfying the holy requirements of the Law, that we would not only see God and live, but also run to Him, fully righteous, and so absolutely reconciled that we call Him our Father.
The Good News can be summed up in Christ’s words, particularly where He describes what we ought to be doing if we want to do the work of God, and where He mentions the new commandment that He gives us.
Understand that when you believe in the One whom God has sent, you are believing that God loves you with all HIS heart, all HIS soul, all HIS mind, all HIS body, all HIS strength, and so on. Therefore, you are able to love one another naturally, from the everlasting love of God towards you.
This same love is what also naturally brings you to run to His throne of grace, calling out to Him as your Father, doing the greatest commandment – loving Him with all YOUR heart, soul, mind, body, and strength.
This same love is also what naturally brings you to understand how you were fearfully and wonderfully made, and how even before you were born, He already loved you – So you are also able to do the second greatest commandment, just like the first – that is, love yourself, with a peaceful, sober love, and to love others the same way.
And as you get into this whole ‘cycle’ (Hey, this is turning out to be more than just an Appendix), of receiving God’s love, and loving the Father, and loving ourselves, and loving others, and loving one another, we bring ourselves naturally to go, therefore, and to make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that Christ has commanded us.
Missions has its foundation in Christianity – that is, celebrating Christ and His finished work…
But Strategic Missions has its foundation in Intentional Christianity – That is, intentionally celebrating Christ and His finished work.
From Good News comes the Worldwide Mission.
Incorporated.
I’ve asked where we were headed but we inadvertently came back to where we started. It always comes back to the Good News. It always comes back to Christ.
At this time, what else is there to say, what else is there to do, but to thank God? We give God the glory and we give Him thanks indeed, because today, as in every other day, His Words continue to be seen in our lives, coming to life in our hearts and minds.
We thank God, for indeed, from Him are all things, and to Him are all things – He truly deserves all the glory.
