Thank You, Father, for the reading of Your Word.
Psalm 7
Prayer and Praise for Deliverance from Enemies
A Meditation of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.
1 O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me,
2 Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
Those who persecute us may do so by two approaches: Tearing us apart, and/or separating us from deliverance. Essentially, separating us from our support, and/or removing us from our tools/functions (de-quipping?). It’s isolation.
But we give thanks to our God, our trustworthy God, for hearing us, and for rescuing us in response to our cries. He remains faithful in spite of the worst that can happen to us.
3 O LORD my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands,
4 If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause,
5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; Yes, let him trample my life to the earth, And lay my honor in the dust.
Selah
God forbid we do the same thing to others – I mean, isolating them from what sustains them, or who helps them. God forbid that we in the body of Christ take extra measures to do what used to be so natural to us: Coming hostile against those to whom we have peace, taking advantage of them and/or beating them down without cause.
Our salvation (being rescued from isolation into forever being in His faithful presence) still has us see the full consequences of our victories and failures, our virtue and our blunders in this side of existence… Only, this time, we are thankful, because even through our suffering, our humiliation, our gracious Father continues to stay faithful and to stand true for us.
For this, we give thanks, and indeed, we pause to glory in Him.
Thank You so far, Father, for the reading of this Word.
6 Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded!
7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; For their sakes, therefore, return on high.
8 The LORD shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, And according to my integrity within me.
9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.
God is perfect in His timing, rising up from His rest to come to our aid; In His perfect timing, and according to the conviction of the Holy Spirit alive in us, He shall bring judgment, bringing all iniquity and transgression into account;
Yet, we shall be established, though we ourselves are tested – yes, because by Christ, who is our Righteousness, we have integrity.
In other words, though we would not call or cry out, the Lord shall arise; He shall return on high. Wickedness comes to an end, but righteousness shall be established.
And with this in mind, indeed, we follow David’s train of thought and proclaim for ourselves, that
10 My defense is of God, Who saves the upright in heart.
11 God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day.
12 If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready.
13 He also prepares for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.
14 Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity; Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.
16 His trouble shall return upon his own head, And his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown.
We would do well to stand firm in the liberty by which Christ has set us free. I, personally, would be doing myself a great favor by continuing to depend on the Lord to restore to me the joy of His Salvation, His Christ – Because His judgment is His complete response, His full action on sin and righteousness.
If the wicked do not fall by their own actions, the Lord shall come against them in judgment.
18 But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18
Let us continue to give thanks to our God and Father. He has saved us fully, completely, absolutely, and forever, by way of Christ and His finished work. He continues to remind us, comfort us, assure us, convict and correct us; He resets us, He recalibrates us by way of His Spirit: His power, His conviction and His Word.
17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
We are a moment You are forever
