Monitoring. I said I’d go to the doctor yesterday. I said I’d go this morning, after having trouble sleeping last night… But, yeah. Monitoring. Things could get better… but, okay, if tomorrow is strike three, I’m out – out early to head to a doctor for a checkup, that is. For both my relief and my peace of mind.
I’m saying all this, sharing all of it now, but I’m not stopping at that – I share all of this only as a prelude to what I really want to say – that in the face of imminent danger and harm, yes, even during these times, the resolve is to continue, and to keep the faith, knowing that it’s precisely during these times that we celebrate the great faithfulness of our God and Father.
Or I just want to say, I’m sick, but God is good.
It’s precisely during these times that we appreciate His goodness, and we look to His glory.
Our trust is in Him. Our focus in on Him – on all that He is – loving Father, complete Savior, and faithful Spirit. Looking upon me from the perspective of the heavenlies and infinite eternity; But feeling all that I am feeling here and now, as close to me as He could ever be.
By the power of His Spirit I have reason to believe that He looks at each and every one of us in the body of Christ, and ministers to all that concerns us, and all we’re concerned about – from the shallowest of matters to the deepest of worries, from the very real encounters to the very imagined scenarios, from the known situations to the unknown variables.
And just to mention this now, overwhelms me… But it only encourages me to know that only God can do what He does, and it only comforts me to take in that only God can love us the way He does – truly perfect, and certainly everlasting.
So all this is going on in my life, and sure, some of it is coming off as me complaining… But, man, above all of this, I have a Holy and Almighty Creator on my side, a Great, Glorious and Good Father who loves me, and who loves all of us.
Indeed, may this meditation minister to my body, to my being, to all that concerns me, and to all that I’m concerned about at this moment. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Thank You, Father, for the reading of Your Word.
Psalm 2
The Messiah’s Triumph and Kingdom
(Acts 4:23–31)
1 Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”
Heed the words of leaders of entire nations, who are not part of the body of Christ – They want nothing to do with the Godhead, they insist on breaking their bonds, casting away what cords they have with the Lord… and His Anointed.
It may sound obvious, but I suppose it must be stated – not only do they cut any connections with the Lord Most High, but also upon Christ, His Anointed, and, consequently, upon all of us in His Body.
It is as Christ described in Matthew 24: Nation is rising against nation, there are wars and rumors of wars, and there are earthquakes all over; But following this, we also read of how we in Christ would be persecuted by folks who say they are doing it in God’s name;
Let us be vigilant; Let us all continue to trust in the Lord. Let us all continue to live, move, and have our being in Christ. Let us continue to be ready, in and out of season, to testify to the Gospel of Christ.
Let us overcome by the blood of the Lamb, and by the Word of our Testimony.
(I didn’t think I’d go there, but, well, it has to be said, huh?)
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
In this case, the errant leaders of the nations know that for all their efforts to cut cords and ties with the Most High, the Messiah STILL sits on His holy hill of Zion; He is publicly proclaimed as His only begotten Son, who has their nations and all nations as His inheritance.
They break their bonds, but they themselves shall be broken by the sheer power of God’s Anointed.
I’m reminded of how the Holy Spirit convicts the world of judgment, specifically. The Spirit of the Lord calls out to one and all to be reconciled with God – from the highest leaders to the lowliest of servants.
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
May we all take this time to allow the Holy Spirit to restore to us the joy of our Salvation. In this time and season, may we remember that through our beholding Christ we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, and this goodness has led us to repentance.
Indeed, may we continue to realize that the nations and people groups are Christ’s inheritance; At this time, may I continue to clarify within my soul that the Lord doesn’t just have countries as His inheritance – I believe that He also has His dominion over generations, not only tribes.
We ask not only for this sovereign nation, but we ask for its youth, and their children’s children; That through the decades and centuries, it would continue to be said:
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
May the good Lord continue to bless and keep us through these times.
