I shall continue to dwell on the Word.
To wait on the Holy Spirit.
In all proceedings and actions, I shall continue to be still and know that God is God.
Well, whaddaya know.
What DO I know?
I know that it was God who spoke all creation into existence. By His Word, there was light. By His Word, we were made. By His Word, time was established, and the borders of space were drawn.
I know He is the one true God. He is the God of Israel. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
He is the God of Gideon, of David, and of Isaiah. He is the God of the Judges and the Kings; He is the God of the Priests and the Prophets; He is God, sovereign over all nations, God over all the leaders of the world.
He is the Lord of Righteousness and Justice. He is Almighty God, whose mercies endure forever.
He is Provider, and Banner of Victory. He is the One who sees; He is Righteousness, and Peace. He is our Healer, just as He is Commander of the armies of the heavens.
He is our Creator. He is infinitely great, and eternally good. He is boundless in power, timeless in wisdom.
And in reflection of all this, I am led by the Spirit to naturally realize that Christ is who He is, and Christ did what He did. Upon understanding, consequently, of who Christ is and what He has done, the Spirit also causes us to naturally realize who God is, and what He does.
Indeed, we have seen the Son, and we see the Father. But, also, when we have seen the Father, we shall see the Son.
The LORD is the Father, Son, and the Spirit.
17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways, Gracious in all His works.
18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.
19 (The LORD) will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.
20 The LORD preserves all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD, And all flesh shall bless His holy name Forever and ever.Psalm 145:17-21
I dwell on this, and I am brought still.
Truth restated, for further dwelling.
Facts clarified, for further compliance.
Thank You, Lord, for the reading of Your Word.
Psalm 114
The Power of God in His Deliverance of Israel
(cf. Ex. 14:1–31)
1 When Israel went out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
Right off the bat – Israel was delivered out of a people ‘of strange language’, and the body of Christ was delivered INTO ‘other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.‘
And it has to be mentioned – We tried to reach God with the tower of Babel, and ended up confused and scattered (‘the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.‘ Genesis 11:9); Christ ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit descended.
Note: ‘Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues (tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each), as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.‘
Humanity was scattered because of confusion of language. They were consequently confused because the Spirit gave utterance to the apostles in the upper room, that they spoke in the languages from every nation under heaven. Only when the multitude realized that, no matter what language they spoke, they spoke the same thing (‘the wonderful works of God‘) were they ‘amazed and perplexed‘.
Peter responded to the comments of the crowd, saying what happened was a fulfillment of the words of Joel… one line in particular, was ‘I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.‘ (Acts 2:18)
Prophesy in the Greek is προφητεύω / prophēteuō / prof-ate-yoo’-o / From G4396; to foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office: – prophesy.
Prophesy in the Hebrew is נָבָא / nâbâ’ / naw-baw’ / A primitive root; to prophesy, that is, speak (or sing) by inspiration (in prediction or simple discourse): – prophesy (-ing) make self a prophet.
See what’s in common – inspiration. Though we speak different languages and tongues, we all come together by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, poured out upon us. The focus is not on the languages, but on the utterance given; and it’s not as vague as some of us may think – utterance in the Greek is ἀποφθέγγομαι / apophtheggomai / ap-of-theng’-om-ahee / From G575 and G5350; to enunciate plainly, that is, declare: – say, speak forth, utterance.
By the Spirit we speak forth, we speak plainly. He gives us utterance, with underlying inspiration – which I imagine rages as a river, burns as a flame. And it goes beyond us. For the Spirit causes us to speak, as the Israelites spoke forth when the Lord answered Elijah with fire. The Spirit also causes those around us to listen, as Abimelech made peace with Isaac after he called upon the Lord.
2 Judah became His sanctuary, And Israel His dominion.
3 The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs.
5 What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back?
6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs?
7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob,
8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters.
I feel there should be a ‘Selah‘ somewhere here. We just went in deep detail regarding the sound and the mighty wind from heaven, preceding the tongues of fire. Here, the earth shakes at the presence of the Lord.
The prayer remains. May the Spirit move, that the glory of the Lord be seen in all creation.
“…Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that You are the LORD God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You again.” 1 Kings 18:37
Wonderful day so far. Thank the Lord for timely new revelations, new mercies.
