“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In themHe has set a tabernacle for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other end; andthere is nothing hidden from its heat.” – Psalm 19:1-6
To supplement, I throw in Romans 1:20a, and its preceding verses, Romans 1:18-19: “For since the creation of the worldHis invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead…”
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.”
Day and night, the glory of God, His eternal power and Godhead are spoken and known, whether by the heavens or by the firmament; also, by the sun, which traverses the heavens, and whose heat reaches all, and by all things that are made.
Felt, heard, and known, clearly seen; God is revealed in all creation. His attributes, though invisible, they are made known through each and every other sense, made known to us by heaven and earth, constantly revealed to us, again, by all things that are made. We see His goodness, grace, faithfulness and mercy at every turn, with every beat of our hearts, and with every breath we take.
How else can we respond, but to say that God is the great “I am” – He is who He says He is! Faithful and True, good and perfect in all His ways, thorough and absolutely full and complete. He is worthy to be praised, our wonderful, magnificent God – Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
Creator is truly seen in all His creation.
“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever, The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” – Psalm 19:7-10
Whenever I read anything about the Word of the Lord (or law, laws, commandments, statues, testimony), I remember Christ’s words:
“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; andthese are they which testify of Me.“ – John 5:39
And it’s been made easy for us, at this day and age. For John also professes: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:1, 14
He also adds, Christ“was the true Light with gives life to every man coming into the world” (John 1:9)
The law/laws, commandment/commandments, statutes, testimony, even the fear of the LORD – all testify of the Word, which was in the beginning with God, and was God Himself. All the words testify of Christ, who is Word which became flesh and dwelt among us.
Therefore, linking this back to Psalm 19:7-10: Christ is perfect. He has converted my soul. Christ is sure, faithful, consistent, enduring. He makes the simple wise.
Christ is right – Righteous! And as such, He is a joy to our hearts. Christ is pure, and He enlightens our eyes. He is clean, He endures forever; Christ is true and righteous altogether.
Who beholds Christ beholds the perfect greatness of God, which leads us to repentance. We are therefore transformed, our souls converted, by Christ Himself.
Christ’s faithfulness, righteousness, and purity – He IS faithful, righteous, and pure, and we are made wise; our hearts rejoice, and our eyes are opened, in and through Christ alone. He is clean, the spotless Lamb of God who took away ALL our sins. His finished work, His sacrifice endures for ALL time unto forever; Faithful & true, what a Savior, what a Friend we have in Jesus!
He is the Living Word who is the Life in the Word; what a glorious cycle! For the words point to Life, and His Life is in all of the Word… and what a Life to be had, what a Life to enjoy!
(I thought I was done with this set of verses, but only at this point did I realize I missed Verse 10)
He is the value of pure gold, the sweetness of fresh honey – He is life to all things; Christ adds Life and Value to Creation!
What gain is there in gold, and what taste is there in honey, without Christ, who is our Living Word unto eternal Life, full of grace and truth?
Indeed, what a Life to live, what a Life to enjoy in Christ!
By His finished work, we know He is always with us, close to us as He could ever be, in that He is one with us, and we are one with Him, 100% of the time, for all time, to the end of time and beyond. Nothing can ever separate us from the love of God through Christ.
…and the other side of the coin proves true – everything – the heavens, the earth, the sun and stars, and all that has been made, all Creation – by the finished work of Christ, ALL of this points to, and therefore firmly connects us to the Love of God, who, after every day of Creation, proclaimed, ‘IT IS GOOD!’
(At this point I thought I was done, but then I read verse 11, and throw it in this set!)
“Moreover by them Your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is good reward.”Psalm 19:11 (That’s a gun, isn’t it?)
By Christ, who is our living Word, we rejoice – however, we are also enlightened, and we are made wise. Christ, who is the grace of God, tutors us to say “no” to sin. By this among other approaches, we are warned.
I believe in the direction we have in Christ. I believe in the value of direction, the reward that focus and concentration is in themselves. By Christ, we are graciously brought and taught where to go, and where not to go – however, in all this, with every step we take, we are reminded that He is ALWAYS with us, no matter what happens, or where we decide to go.
We can rest from labor and striving, but at the same time work from rest, knowing that the God of the universe has our back. The Spirit of the Lord is the boldness by which we approach our Creator, sealed in the throne of Grace, if only enjoy Him, to rejoice in Him, as He celebrates us.
Truly, God IS our Father, who runs to us embracing us, clothing our shame, restoring our name, and soothing our pain – for once we were dead, now, by Christ, we are alive!
Christ is the living Word, and in every word of scripture we are led to His glory.
Christ’s finished work guarantees that all will behold the matchless grace of God – in all the sun shines upon, or at the slightest nuances of Scripture.
All creation testifies of the goodness and greatness of our Creator.
“How marvelous! How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be:
How marvelous! How wonderful!
Is my Savior’s love for me!”
