Really, Thanks. (283/365)

I am learning. I am being transformed for the better, by the renewing of my mind. I am flowing.

It’s 11:42pm, and I do want to share something.

Previously I wrote from James 4:7, and we jumped into detail on what it meant to submit to God, specifically.

We talked about how it’s our recognizing His goodness, His grace, His glory, and His greatness no matter what state of mind we find ourselves in. In fact, I’d like to add that in our weakness, we’re actually to submit to God, or to actively seek His light and love; In our weakness, we’re to see Him, hear Him, shout out to Him even MORE.

Sure, we also went into resisting the devil – which for me in this day and time meant resisting temptation, resisting the urges of the old flesh, and staying away from triggers that increase the volume of said temptation.

We spoke of resisting the devil, and he shall indeed flee from us. But one thing that we also walked into was, in our submitting to God, we not only (1) remember that He never fled from us, He was with us all along; we also observe that (2) angels are more than likely sent to help us, sure as they came to Christ after His time tempted in the wilderness, sure as they came to Elijah some time after he flat out expressed his full frustration and weariness to God.

We submit to God, and allow more and more of our being to take in the Truth – that the Father never left us, Jesus is always with us, and the Spirit is never failing in always helping us, comforting us, convicting us, etc; We give thanks to God, we take His presence in, and we see angels all around us. Helping us.

And that’s what I wanted to share.

Mom and I went out earlier this afternoon, right after I posted that last article. The car started out fine, and though I was able to find a rare parking space in the middle of the city, with so many other cars vying for the same precious spaces… Well, I had to give the same space up, soon as I found out my Mom didn’t find what she was looking for, in that area. The car started fine.

We drove to another area in the central business district, and it was the same case – well, as far as finding a space went… but I wasn’t going to give up my space right away. I told Mom I found a space, she understood that I was going to be paying for the time I parked, even if it was a few minutes… so we made the most of it by going to the grocery.

It was all fine and dandy, until I paid for my parking ticket, left Mom to wait by the gate, and hauled our de facto box of groceries to the car, put my keys into the ignition, and twisted…. to a click.

…and another click. Click. Click. Click.

I went out. Popped the hood. Took a wrench from the back. Smacked on the car battery terminals. Click. Click. Click.

I went downstairs. Told Mom about the situation. Told the guards, who told me to try smacking on the terminals again. No dice.

Kid who was parked right beside me offered to help, only he didn’t have jumper cables. Told him I was good, and I was going back to the guards to ask for help, possibly in pushing the manual transmission car to jump start it that way.

Told the guard, who warned me I may have to pay for another hour, as I should have brought the car out within 15 minutes of paying for the ticket. I didn’t care, long as I was able to get the car started. He told the other folks he was going to help me.

Kid, guard and I tried smacking the terminals again. We were just about to try pushing the car to get it started, but guard was hesitant because, true enough, it was preferred that we’d jump start from a slope… and the only slope around was a push, and also pretty freaking steep.

Dude comes by, mentioned that he had jumper cables. We put them on the terminals, tried to start. Click. Click. Click.

Dude tells me to smack the starter. The starter was under the rest of the engine. I pulled out cardboard. I got scared because the engine was pressing on my chest, and now that I think about it, it was about time for me (1) to air the tires, and (2) to lose some freaking weight.

I got soaked by a puddle under the car for nothing, because the clicking was coming closer to the driver’s side. I went under, squeezed myself, smacked and tapped where I thought it was close to where the clicking was coming from…

Kid was trying to start the car while I was underneath… Click. Click.

…Vroom.

Man, I thought. I probably wasn’t anywhere near the starter, but whatever tapping I did affected it. Came out to a relieved Guard and Kid; Dude told me he had a car like mine before, always had that issue, he told me to check the ‘copper’ on the starter because it’s likely that it wore out to the point that, yeah, I couldn’t start the car.

Thanked Dude and Kid profusely. Guard headed straight down after the issue was resolved. I paid for the new parking ticket. I picked Mom up. I drove home, taking care to park the car in reverse in case I needed to attempt a jump-start from the garage.

Sure enough, as soon as we parked, I turned the ignition off, tried starting again, and… Click. Click.

I share this story, only because I was thanking God profusely for Dude, for Kid and Guard; didn’t get their names, but I was speaking blessings over their lives.

Then I realized, hey, they were angels sent to minister to me.

Talk about immediate application. Talk about unity of knowledge and action. Talk about God putting His money where His Word is.

Thank You, Lord.

That was something.

I am learning. I am being transformed for the better, by the renewing of my mind. I am flowing.

Resist the devil, and he shall flee from you.

Submit to God, and remember He is always with you, and His angels truly minister to you.

Amen, and Halleluyah.
