Monday the 13th, eh?
Before everything else, it is time to release. Time to unload. Time to clear before rebuilding. Time to empty and fill.

Psalm 13
Trust in the Salvation of the LORD
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
David with another banger here. The Chief Musician must be all sorts of happy here, with all the inspiration coming from the shepherd king, the one who has slain his ten thousands, but at the same time composed a multitude of Psalms. Both destroyer and creator.
And, that’s something, isn’t it? We don’t need to go as far as to study Musashi… Instead, we’d do well to prioritize David, a great example of a warrior-philosopher.
1 How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
And what I appreciate about David is seen in his songs – His total transparency and honesty; Towards himself, and here, towards God. He doesn’t hold back in crying out to the Lord. He doesn’t choose his words, and just reaches out, just cries out with raw emotion.
In the first verse, I remember Christ (uber Warrior-Philosopher) also crying out the same way at the cross; Being raw towards God, before the sneering multitude.
It reminds us of what we ought to be seeing primarily, when we remember our own salvation – Notice David’s priority choice of words, or what he mentions in verse 1 before verse 2. Also remember what Christ chose to cry out, versus everything else He could have said.
Both Christ and David (technically, His ancestor) lamented over God forsaking them.
David chose to write this before writing of how he was alone, how he suffered sorrow in his heart, and how his enemy was exalted over him.
Christ chose to say, ‘My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?!‘ when He could have said, ‘How long shall I take counsel in my soul’?, ‘(I have) sorrow in my heart’, and/or ‘How long will my enemy be exalted over me?‘
The salvation we have from the Lord is one that is sure, in that we will always have His presence, and He is not only with us, but He also does not forsake, abandon, desert, or renounce us; He keeps us, retains us, maintains us, sustains us, cherishes us, nurtures us, supports us, and upholds us.
3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
In this wild world, and in this sad existence, there will always be darkness; The fact of our state is that death is always around the corner. There is no guarantee that we will always win over those who call themselves our enemies. There are no save points, no way for us to load and re-do the things we have done and have been done.
But we have an absolute Anchor to our soul. We have a sure footing, a firm Foundation in Christ.
Through Christ we have mercy that falls, as a sweet spring rain. Mercy is God not forsaking us, not abandoning us, not deserting us, not renouncing us, not rejecting us.
Through Christ we have a complete Salvation – Christ’s ‘Yeshua’ name means God saves, and ‘Emmanuel’ means God (is) with us – Meaning, by the presence of the Creator of the Universe and all that is seen and unseen, the God of Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, as a Father, with us, we are kept, retained, maintained, sustained, cherished, nurtured, supported, and upheld.
Mom’s been sharing a lot of posts questioning ‘Once saved, always saved’, and to this I respond – You’re never going to BE ‘saved’ if, at any point in your walk with Jesus, you’re placing your trust in your OWN works in earning it, and your OWN brand of ‘righteousness’ in ‘keeping’ it. If all you’ve been doing all this time is to make it about you making it about Jesus, repent.
Also, I stumbled upon something – or, rather, a couple of things from Social Media:
First was the flavor text on Sphinx’s Revelation, an Instant with Mythic rarity, from the Magic: The Gathering TCG:
‘Let the knowledge of absolute law inspire you to live a life of absolute order’
We’re speaking of absolute salvation, particularly the ONLY salvation that is absolute – That OF Christ, that FROM Christ, and that which IS literally Christ. It’s a salvation once had, will always be; It’s a salvation that’s clearly so much more than just a ‘Go to heaven when you die’ card; It’s God as our Father, absolutely, consistently not forsaking us, not abandoning us, not deserting us, not renouncing us, not rejecting us, keeping us, retaining us, maintaining us, sustaining us, cherishing us, nurturing us, supporting us, and upholding us.
This salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, to whom we ascribe praise, glory, wisdom, thanks, honor and power and strength forever and ever.
This is TRUE salvation that is beyond reproof, infinitely superior to any salvation we could think of, much less dispute as finite and (ridiculously) dependent on who we are or what we do.
Second was a post paraphrasing of a saying by Carl Jung: ‘Addiction is proof that you are capable of intense devotion…. You just serve a false god‘
Folks, I’ll just wrap it up here: The salvation we receive from God is TRUE salvation, and it is absolute, all-encompassing, infinitely superior. It is exclusive, in that is it of Christ, from Christ, and IS Christ.
Christ is our Salvation, and this salvation inspires us, and this salvation brings us to devotion.
6 I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Here I was thinking that this was going to be a post of me unloading my thoughts and energy at random, for the sake of emptying myself… But, well, in the process, we have been duly reminded of how the Father loves us with a great love, by a true salvation through no less than His Son, Jesus Christ.
I couldn’t help but connect this to our current, ongoing train of thought.
