Psalm 113 – May 25, 2026 (199/365)

Thank You, Father, for the reading of Your Word.

May we continue to shine in Your Word, and be in awe of Your goodness, as seen in Your Spirit, alive in us.

Psalm 113

The Majesty and Condescension of God

1 Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, Praise the name of the LORD!

2 Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forevermore!

3 From the rising of the sun to its going down The LORD’s name is to be praised.

I do suppose that it’s good timing for us to give praise and glory to the name of the Lord, following our wonderful service yesterday. We gave homage and all attribution to our God, who, through Jesus Christ’s finished work, has poured out His Spirit upon all who would come to believe in Him… And sure enough, the Spirit moved, and IS moving.

To clarify, it’s not because we did anything in order for the Spirit to move – no, it’s because the Spirit HAS BEEN moving that we do all that we did… and shall continue to do.

Indeed, we give praise and glory to the name of the LORD, as He deserves ALL worship and adoration, ALL trust and dependence, ALL recognition and focus – more than anything in this world that tries to take our awe, our reliance, and our attention.

He deserves all our praise because of all Has done for us, in the light of all we could not do for Him and for ourselves. He alone became sin when we could only atone for the sins we were aware of. He alone is righteous, and compared to His holiness all that we are is as confused as Babel and all we do is worthless and even toxic as filthy rags.

We worship Him because He didn’t have to save us, but He loved us and chose to lay it all down in order to reconcile us to God; That not only would the will of the Father be done, but also that He would be glorified to the uttermost.

Here I’m also reminded that through Christ, we have been recreated as temples of the Holy Spirit – and, as such, we are truly able to rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in everything. We are living fulfillments of the will of God for us, in Jesus Christ.

4 The LORD is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens.

5 Who is like the LORD our God, Who dwells on high,

6 Who humbles Himself to behold The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?

7 He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,

8 That He may seat him with princes— With the princes of His people.

9 He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!

And, look there – I suppose our praise to the Most High naturally leads us to remember all that He has done for us. We give glory to the Lord for who He is, and eventually we arrive at giving glory to the Lord for all He has done, starting always at His birth, death, resurrection, and ascension.

He who was high above the heavens, He who dwells on high, humbled Himself to behold all that is in the heavens and the earth;

By His death and resurrection, He has raised us out of the dust, and lifted us out of the ashes. We who were poor and needy are now seated with Him. We who were once barren now have a home.

Yesterday we talked about how our salvation meant we were born again… and now, we have this wonderful perspective to behold and praise the Lord for.

As we move from Pentecost, and as we continue through this week, let us also continue to move in the Spirit and with the Spirit.

Thank You, Father, for the reading of Your Word.

May the Lord continue to bless the works of our hands, as we live, and move, and have our being in Christ.

May we continue to dwell in His Word, waiting on His Spirit, and being still – that we would know He is God.

Amen, and amen.
