Jesus Is The Word Of God

facilitated as usual by Dox

Recap: Jesus is the great ‘I Am’; Amidst and above all that is, was and will be, and in all we are, He is the great ‘I Am’.

Jesus does not just speak the Word, He IS the Word. To know Jesus is to know the Word of God. When we encounter Jesus, we encounter the Word of God.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.John 1:1-5

Word used for ‘Word’ is Logos, or the message, creative power, and expression. Christ is the message, power and expression of the everlasting God. The Word of God is the presence of God; Christ is the presence and Word of God.

In the beginning‘ – Parallel to creation, the Word was already present.

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Psalms 90:2

Before creation, the Word already was.

17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.Colossians 1:17

10 And: “You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.Hebrews 1:10

was the Word‘ – Pointing to a personal entity, not an abstract concept.

13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.Revelation 19:13

1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;Hebrews 1:1-2

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.Colossians 1:16

and the Word was with God‘; emphasizing a distinct, face to face relationship with God – further basis for the Trinity.

And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.John 17:5

Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him, Proverbs 8:30

I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.John 16:28

and the Word was God‘ – Jesus Christ is God!

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.Titus 2:11-14

27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” 28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!John 20:27-28

3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh, 4 who are Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; 5 of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.Romans 9:3-5

In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God‘; ‘He’, again, emphasizing that Christ is the Word.

3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

God has spoken the Word, and through Christ all things were made. Without the Word, without Christ, nothing was made ‘that was made‘.

4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

In the Word is Life. In Christ is Life; The Word Christ speaks is Spirit and Life, because Christ IS Life. His radiance is constant and His reach is unlimited; His Life is Light.

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.Colossians 1:15-17

When God said, ‘let there be Light!‘; He was also saying, ‘let there be Jesus!

We sing ‘I speak Jesus’, and we’re really also singing ‘I speak Light and Life’. The Spirit moves with the Word.

John 6:68-69 NKJV

68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

John 1:14 NKJV

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Christ is Emmanuel, ‘God with us’; He is the Word became flesh, and He dwelt among us.

Revelation 19:10 NKJV

10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy‘; Jeremiah 33:3 – ‘Call to me, and I will reveal to you things that you do not know

Speak Jesus, call to the Father, and be taught. Learn. Our brethren have the testimony of Jesus. By our fruits we shall be known – and for us in the body of Christ, it all begins with the testimony of Jesus.

John 8:31 NKJV

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

John 15:4-6 NKJV

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

without me you can do nothing‘ – ‘without Him nothing was made that was made.

Psalms 1:1 TPT

1 What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways!

He won’t walk in step with the wicked,

nor share the sinner’s way,

nor be found sitting in the scorner’s seat.

John 15:7 NKJV

7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

When we delight in the Word, we delight in Christ. We delight in Life and Light. We abide in His presence when we dwell in His Word.

2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV

18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

We’re reminded of what impacts us: What do we see, or what does the Word says?

Christ, by highest heaven adored,

Christ, the everlasting Lord,

late in time behold him come,

offspring of the Virgin’s womb:

veiled in flesh the Godhead see;

hail th’incarnate Deity,

pleased with us in flesh to dwell,

Jesus, our Immanuel.

I’m reminded also of that one Instagram reel where the speaker emphasizes that when your cup runneth over, that means that the Host doesn’t want you to leave.

We want to dwell with Him, but He wants to abide in us even more. And as we delight with each other, we are transformed. He goes further than giving us the shallow desires of our heart; He redefines what we want, and then He gives it to us.

We delight with each other. He WANTS to delight in us. He DELIGHTS in us.

Our beginning was as redefined as our desires. Christ brought us back to where God loves us before the beginning of the world. This gives us another perspective to this eternal life that we have through Him. It’s life superior to existence; It’s new desires, new beginning, new life.

The Word was distorted at the Garden. We have been reconciled, recreated at the cross. Sin was our identity; Now, we are reconciled.

Look no further than Christ – He IS the Truth that dwells in us.

He’s the Canon.

There’s so much more that I could write from the discussion that followed, but I think we can end on that note – Christ is the Canon. Amen. Halleluyah.
