14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’Exodus 3:14-15

God’s nature and existence is beyond human life, spanning generations. He is absolutely real. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; Consequently, He is the God of JB, Marion and Agapito.

He is ever present. He IS; not merely WAS, nor is He WILL BE; He was, is and will be. He was present to our fathers, our fathers’ fathers, and to the generations before, reaching all the way back – and we would do well to be present with the ever present God who is who He says He is.

Now the LORD had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”Genesis 12:1-3

God’s covenant was spoken to Abraham (Abram at the time), and it is just as spoken to his children, and his children’s children. He is the God of our Fathers, and He is our God – consistent and faithful through all generations. This is who we are placing our faith on. He is a REAL God, who is real for us here and now, just as He was with our fathers, and for all previous generations.

God is our Father, and He is a Personal Father. God is OUR Strength, not A Strength, in general. OUR Inheritance. OUR Salvation.

Israel’s condition prior:

7 And the LORD said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:7-10

This was what was going on prior to God revealing Himself, and saying that He is who He says He is.

He has SEEN, He has HEARD, He has KNOWN;

So He has COME DOWN to BRING THEM UP.

Sound familiar? Jumping into the New Testament:

54 Jesus answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God. 55 Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, ‘I do not know Him,’ I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”

57 Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”

58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

John 8:54-59

Bridge of ‘Same God’ from Elevation Worship:

You heard Your children then, You hear Your children now

You are the same God, You are the same God

You answered prayers back then and You will answer now

You are the same God, You are the same God

You were providing then, You are providing now

You are the same God, You are the same God

You moved in power then, God, move in power now

You are the same God, You are the same God

You were a healer then, You are a healer now

You are the same God, You are the same God

You were a Savior then, You are a Savior now

You are the same God, You are the same God

Jesus’ ‘I AM’s:

John 8:58 NKJV

58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

John 6:35, 41 NKJV

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

41 The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.”

John 8:12; 9:5 NKJV

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

John 10:7,9 NKJV

7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

John 10:11,14 NKJV

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

John 11:25 NKJV

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

John 14:6 NKJV

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 15:1,5 NKJV

1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Revelation 1:8,17 NKJV

8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

JESUS THE GREAT I AM:

I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE. (Jn. 6:35,41)

I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. (Jn. 8:12;9:5)

BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM (Jn. 8:58)

I AM THE DOOR. (Jn. 10:7,9)

I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD. (Jn. 10:11,14)

I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. (Jn. 11:25)

I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, & THE LIFE. (Jn. 14:6)

I AM THE TRUE VINE. (Jn. 15:1,5)

I AM THE ALPHA & OMEGA. THE FIRST & LAST. (Rv. 1:8,17)

Which of these aspects have we encountered in our own lives?

  • It varies. The enemy’s attacks are different every day, and Christ is who He is depending on the days and the seasons. I am assured every day that no matter what fiery darts are flung at us, Christ is our Shield. He shows Himself as who He is no matter the nature of our need, and in His good timing.
  • Same as my Dad, I draw confidence in the Truth that God has done, is doing, and will do. He moves in His perfect timing. He is everything we need and desire. We’re thankful that He reveals Himself to us to these generations as young as they are.
  • Incomprehensible at first, but understood as they move along, revealed further as they move forward. We’ve seen a difference between how we were looking at God before and now – from ‘far above’ to ‘alive in us’. God is our Father who IS, and He IS saying to us here and now: ‘I AM’ your Solution, ‘I AM’ your answer. Response: ‘I live in the One who is‘ – He’s the cool Uncle who is willing to go down to the level of His nephews.
  • I take in where He says, ‘I AM THAT I AM’. His being ever present is what resonates with me. Life flows from Him, in every situation. He covers everything.

God continues to show Himself as faithful through the generations. This is what’s sparking my imagination: How has His ever-presence and infallible prescience (that’s from Dune) been revealed through the times? Throughout all nations throughout all history? Through the Middle Ages, through the Mongols, through the Dynasties?

I don’t see Him when ideals muddle my senses. But He shows Himself.

I see here that He is the TRUE Vine, faithful when we claim sustenance from other ‘vines’.

Be enthroned upon the praises of a thousand generations‘ – If He is faithful to the past and surely present in the present, how much more shall He be with us and the FUTURE generations?

All that will remain is Christ. All that matters is Christ.

He deserves all the glory and the praise, now and forever. Amen.
