Faithful Reminders – March 13, 2024 (79/365)

Day in and day out I find myself pushing words out of my head… and what I think is in common – and HAS been common for the longest time is the general theme that expresses that things are going out of control, things are chaotic and are getting to me; It varies but it starts off pretty negative overall, but it always ends with us thanking the Lord, trusting the Lord.

And this post is no different. In keeping up with the notion on sharing whatever is on my head today, as in any given day, I’m saying that today, I could complain. I could see all that I’m going through as trouble. I could see the hand that I’m dealt with as hopeless.

But when I find myself in times of trouble, it’s not Mama Mary that calls to me, saying let it be. No, in times of trouble and turbulence, it’s the Holy Spirit that convicts me, saying I am righteous.

Yes, this Spirit, poured into us as new wine, resting upon our heads as a tongue of fire – This is the same Spirit of wisdom passed on from Moses to Joshua, the same Spirit of Truth whom Christ says would lead us into all Truth… and the Truth at any given moment, at any time of the day, no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, is that we are righteous.

We are righteous, not necessarily meaning that all we do is right – but in spite of what we do, or what is done to us, the Holy Spirit reminds us, convicts us that we are ALWAYS in right-standing with God.

Again, it’s not to say that what we do is right, or that God condones or tolerates all we do. No, in fact, because of our right-standing with God, we can expect Him to do what is best for us, even if it means correcting us, or teaching us a lesson; lessons from an infinitely powerful, eternally wise Father who loves us with an everlasting love, straight to our still-renewing beings.

In fact, it’s the Spirit’s conviction that also has us looking at our situations here in the finite… and once we’re reminded of how God is always for us, and how we are never separated from God’s love, through Christ Jesus, whatever hand we have isn’t AS hopeless as we see it.

The hope that we have in Christ not only serves as leverage to us in the physical, nor is it merely a fallback for our minds… The hope we have in and through Christ serves as an anchor to our souls. It is complete, and infinitely superior to any notions of hopelessness we have, even in this finite reality.

And let me stop here – I mean, let me just share that throughout these past Sundays, I have been asserting to you here, and to those I speak to on a regular basis, that this year is, indeed a year that we trust in the Lord… but it just feels now that I have been giving a little more attention to the Holy Spirit as of late.

I mean, don’t get me wrong – I just shared last Sunday that the absolute blessings we all have in the body of Christ is three-fold: The Grace of the Father, the Finished Work of the Son, and the Power of the Holy Spirit. And I mean to keep sharing that these blessings is as the Trinity – independently recognized, but all together, as one.

In other words, the Finished Work of Christ, and the Power of the Holy Spirit, is ours because of the Grace of God. Consequently, it’s because of the Finished Work of Christ that we are able to enjoy the Grace of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit. What I’m saying here is that we’ve been giving a little more attention and appreciation to the Truth that it’s by the Power of the Holy Spirit that we continue to recognize the Finished Work of Christ, and the Grace of God present in all things.

I suppose I’m still pretty Pentecostal, regardless of my claims to be Christ-centered, and non-denominational. Pentecostal, in the sense that we give credence to the goodness of God as demonstrated in the events we now call Pentecost – the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Christ in the upper room in Jerusalem, as recorded in Acts 2.

So with all this being said – today could be better, could be worse… but that’s all according to my point of view, and my limited perspective. However, I am happy, because, sure, it’s already second nature to me to keep saying as Don Moen would have us say: God is good, all the time…

But today, as in the recent days, I’m giving some credit to our Helper, no less than the Holy Spirit – Given to us by way of God’s grace, and through the finished work of Christ.

May we all be filled as we wrap up the first part of this week. Let’s all have a Spirit-filled Hump Day.

God bless us all.
