Pastor Joedy (woo!): Seek, Part 1 – Be Still, And Know That I Am God
Our good pastor started off with a symbolic call for children (under 30, to be precise) to stand up and get blessed by those seated, and then the other way around. Without us, God won’t, but without God, we can’t; This is why there’s the need for us to seek.
Seek To Know God And Rise Up In Your Potential
I can do all things through His love. When we know His love, we grow in our potential. Not even the gates of satan could overcome the love of God, and this is why we’re blessed – We serve a God of love, and a God who loves us with a love that never fails. In fact, if you don’t know God’s love, you know NOTHING. On the other hand, if you know God’s love, you know ALL you need to know.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34
God is a good God and He will do and give all to His beloved to have an abundant life, life in Christ can be summarized in one verse: For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.Romans 11:36
We’re to Seek God and Rise up in ‘Koach’ Power and Potential. And one of the gifts of God to those who seek or wait (Qavah) upon Him is Potential. But note: Pastor Joedy also mentioned at another time that Qavah also means ‘to bind’; This means that when we seek, and when we wait, we automatically bind ourselves – when we seek Christ, we automatically bind ourselves to Christ, and more importantly, we’re reminded of how Christ is bound to us. It’s no accident that we remind ourselves of what Isaiah says:
He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.Isaiah 40:29-31
We aren’t familiar with Koach, but we’re more fixated on its Greek equivalent: Dunamis, meaning to be firm; to have vigor, literally (force, in a good or a bad sense) or figuratively (capacity, means, produce); – ability, able, force, might, power and strength. So we rise in Koach, we also rise in Dunamis.
Potential is powerful! Potential is having or showing the capacity (dunamis) to become or develop into something in the future. As a noun, it’s latent qualities or abilities that may be developed to lead to future success or usefulness.
It’s our responsibility as leaders to find potential. Tied in to our not being alone… We find potential, keeping in mind that we can’t be alone. God gave power and potential in all of us. And when we find good in others, that’s when our best will come. This is what we call empowering – we see and draw out potential in others.
Potential is like a force that opens doors, opens eyes and reveals. It’s coupled with confidence, and in our case this is confidence in no less than God. Potential also causes us to inherit or claim the blessings or future that awaits us – It’s linked with the future. You tell people of their potential, and are prophesying for their future. It’s how we edify folks.
But here’s the thing. Is our greatest potential in each and every one of us? No! Pastor Joedy vehemently stresses – Our greatest potential is God and His love for you and us! We ultimately overcome not of our strength, but when we seek the Lord, we will always rise again – We are more than conquerors through His love, and His perfect love casts out our fear.
We tell people that they are loved, and in this love, we draw their greatest potential out, we reveal their greatest potential. We ought to keep telling people, keep telling ourselves that God is for us, and it doesn’t matter who is against us.
We’re brought to look to the life of David. Fun fact – David, or Dawid means ‘beloved‘.
At this time we’re brought to remember what Pastor Noel mentioned regarding his biological children. He said they were born from the womb. He also mentioned that his one adopted daughter was ‘born from the heart’. Link this to what Pastor Marco was saying regarding Fathers and their Children.
David was aware of God’s love for him, and it shows in his writings and compositions in the Psalms:
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.Psalms 36:7
Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand.Psalms 17:7
It’s God’s love that was the reason that David reached his highest potential, which made him bold as a lion, secure in his identity. God’s love made David a giant killer, and a great captain and a king… but also, a sweet psalmist, and a shepherd leader. Even when David failed, he had the sense to seek God’s heart and His presence. Knowing God’s love is a great start.
Friends, it’s not just David. You, too, are God’s beloved child – rise up in your greatest potential! The Lord is with you, and HE LOVES YOU! Let this be our prayer:
Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
Deliver me from my enemies, O LORD!
I have fled to you for refuge.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Psalms 143:8-10
