Purple Rain

I was supposed to take today to write and post about upcoming speaking engagements. But today is also the day of the US Elections. 

I felt the need to talk about this, to say this more than anything else, after observing everything regarding the elections so far. 

Fear is creeping in, and I’m glad I’m in control as to how I can respond to this. 

For it’s in times like this when we who are in Christ are reminded of His sovereignty and wisdom. It’s times like this when I’m reminded to stop looking at what’s directly in front of me, but to look to Christ, who has everything under His steadfast gaze – past, present, future, and beyond. 

It’s times like this when I’m reminded of what’s made its way to being more than what is ought to be in my life… and in this case, it’s my political ideologies. It’s times like this when I’m reminded of the Truth – that the Truth is Christ, and Christ is the Rock that cannot be shaken. 

I am reminded of how Christ is our peace, and how He is our refuge. No matter how we are impacted by the world, I am reminded of how Christ has guaranteed that nothing in all creation can ever separate us from the Creator.

I’m reminded of how I can die at any moment, but I will still be in Christ. I’m reminded of how the enemy may steal everything from me, kill me, and destroy everything concerning me…. but in the face of this I am fully aware of the Truth that Christ has given me life, and life eternal, both now and forever. 

His perfect Love casts out all fear, no matter who wins. 

You say you want a leader
But you can’t seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain
