Things fade.
…Yeah, I think that’s the thought of the day. Things fade, and it’s not always of your own doing – sometimes, you just see signs of a loss of commitment, or technical/regulatory issues being pressed, all ultimately leading to a point that communication… fades, or is downright terminated.
And, just disregard my poor attempts at making things oddly specific but vague at the same time. Things just fade, and when they do, we shouldn’t be so quick to declare whether it’s right or wrong – because in the fading, what seems to be more important comes out naturally.
Things fade, and we take it all as transition. It’s amazing how I can take time to muse about things this trivial. I guess this is me trying to make the most of the transition. And what better way to make the most out of time, than by spending time with the Maker of Time, and His Scripture?
Thank You, Lord, for the reading of Your Word.
Psalm 70
Prayer for Relief from Adversaries
(Ps. 40:13–17)
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. To bring to remembrance.
True enough, David wrote along this train of thought in the aforementioned verses, from Psalm 40 – implying that he felt this way more than once, and we may very well have the same emotions behind this composition more than once, ourselves.
1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O LORD!
And… indeed, in more than just one occasion do we ‘escalate’ from calmly thanking the Lord for being our help in the past; In more than one occasion, I’m pretty sure a good number of us have found ourselves shouting out to the Lord for help NOW, with an intense sense of urgency.
2 Let them be ashamed and confounded Who seek my life; Let them be turned back and confused Who desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back because of their shame, Who say, “Aha, aha!”
4 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!”
5 But I am poor and needy; Make haste to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay.

Things fade out, and things creep in. That’s a thought for today.
And it’s both good and bad stuff. Temptations, relentless and as ruthless as the old devil himself persisting on having even the smallest of considerations and consequent actions, creeping into even the ‘strongest’ of minds.
In response to this, we apply what we’ve been talking about since last week – Submit to God, resist the devil. And that’s precisely what I did, a couple of minutes ago. Dusted off the old guitar, and persisted on worshipping. On a side note I kept it on the key of A, safe enough to both hold the melody and go off every now and then…
…and that’s when a realization came in. I keep saying that my late Dad didn’t necessarily love me according to my expectations, but he definitely loved me with his best… after singing, I realized, with much gratitude and thanks – My Mom is still with us, still surviving and thriving in this wretched world… and I don’t want to wait until her passing to appreciate how she, also, loves me, loves my brothers, loves all with her best.
Thank You, Lord, for my Mom. Thank You, Lord, for realizations that amaze, beyond temptations that deceive.
Thank You, Lord, for the reading of Your Word.
Psalm 71
God the Rock of Salvation
In all that is fading away, and in all that is materializing… Indeed, the best response, the best course to take is to praise God, and to worship the Father.
For in praise, and in worship, we would not help but give thanks, and in our giving thanks, we submit to God, and we resist the devil.
In our giving thanks, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness; We give thanks, and the devil flees from us, and God’s ministers tend to us.
Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You, Holy Spirit. Glorious and gracious, now and forever.
1 In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.
2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
3 Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.
4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.
Through this Psalm we are brought to give thanks. We give thanks to the King of Kings, and to the Lord of Lords; for sure as the sun rises, we place our trust in Him, and we shall never be put to shame.
We give thanks and praise to God, because though things are both departing and arising, the truth of the matter remains: He delivers us, if not causes us to escape.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He hears us, and saves us! He is as s strong refuge to our entire being, a rock upon whom our bodies stand, a fortress of our mind and spirit.
Give thanks, give thanks! For in the presence of the Most High, we are out of the hands of the wicked, the unrighteous, and the cruel.
6 By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.
7 I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.
8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.
10 For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,
11 Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”
Indeed, we continue to give thanks! For it does not matter whether we have just been taken out of our mother’s womb, or are in the time of our old age, when our strength fails;
No matter how fresh we are, or how wise we’ve become, give thanks and praise to God, who shall never forsake us, nor cast us off; Give thanks, for God is our strong Refuge who always upholds us, no matter what our enemies say against us, no matter how they conspire to take us down.
Give thanks, in the presence of temptation, and in the presence of our enemies! For we have the one true God, the glorious and magnificent God of Israel, God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, as our loving Father. Halleluyah!
12 O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!
13 Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt.
14 But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.
15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.
16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.
In the midst of all trial and temptation, in the middle of persecution and tribulation, give thanks, give thanks and praise to the Most High! For, indeed, He is our PRESENT Help, here with us, here and now, helping us; He does not allow those who call themselves our enemies to be victorious, nor does He let them stay with the upper hand – No, in His great love and power, He demonstrates both grace and glory to all, by letting them be confounded (their plans shall not be executed), and consumed (the weapons they form shall not prosper).
We behold our Father’s great love and power, and we sing of His righteousness and salvation, while those who call themselves our adversaries would be covered with reproach and dishonor.
Glory, glory to His name, now and forever!
Let us continue to rest through the storms, knowing that we have been cleansed once and for all by the blood of Christ; That He, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, also serves as the One who adds infinite value to our testimonies.
17 O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.
19 Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You?
20 You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
21 You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.
22 Also with the lute I will praise You— And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed.
24 My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.
We submit to God, and resist the devil; We remember the blood of the Lamb, and we speak forth praise and thanks, all critical components of our testimony.
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word! Through Your Word we have been, are, and will be ministered to, and the devil flees from us. By the power of Your name, and by Your Word that is Spirit and Life, everything else that happens in the coming hours and days shall be a solid testimony to Your infinite power, Your eternal wisdom, and Your perfect, everlasting love.
Be exalted and glorified, Father – now, and forever! Amen, and amen!
