Psalm 54 – August 23, 2026 (266/365)

Hoooooboy. There’s been lot going on, since that last post.

All the same, we need to just get as much as we can, out of our minds, in the name of clarity and just, peace. After all, there is power in peace, and there is peace in power.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

Praise Him, all creatures here below!

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host!

Praise… yes, praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost! Amen!

It’s all crammed up here but let’s just go ahead and flow. We’re rooted, but we also flow – rather, it’s possible to flow, as I’m learning.

Thank You, Lord, for the reading of Your Word.

Psalm 54

Answered Prayer for Deliverance from Adversaries

To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Contemplation of David when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?”

Context – David on the run, tipped off by Prince Jonathan; The way I see it, David and his men were hiding in the fortresses in the area of the Ziphites, and they told King Saul about it… Leading David into contemplation, with stringed instruments.

1 Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your strength.

2 Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.

3 For strangers have risen up against me, And oppressors have sought after my life; They have not set God before them.

Selah

I’m led to recall the folks who stole my Mom’s credit card earlier this year. It’s easy for them to rise against us. It’s easy for them to seek our money, our credit, and even our life. They can justify that it’s for the improvement of their own circumstances, but here I’m reminded by David, that they can easily take advantage of others without conscience, just as the Ziphites did… because ‘they have not set God before them‘.

There’s much talk from the anti-Christian crowd regarding how humanity can be good without God… but here I see, and understand, that it’s definitely easy not to be ‘good’ without Him. The way I see it, the soul which does not set God before it, only sees itself. It only saves its own skin, prioritizing itself before it even entertains the notion of the well-being of other souls.

And it’s not to condemn them… well, there’s only genuine compassion to eventually be felt when we realize that we were in the same, miserable state before we set God before us, ourselves. We were in the same dog-eat-dog (man-eat-man?) state of reality, before we took in the truth of God’s perfect and everlasting love, in the form of Christ, who lay absolutely everything down to His very life, for our salvation, redemption, reconciliation, and righteousness unto eternal life.

We who have been shown a more excellent way are naturally led, as David was led, to precede the recognition of our sad state in this world, with prayer – prayer for salvation by the name of the Lord, and vindication by His strength.

Yes, whenever we have those dangerous encounters in this fallen world, we pray, and we give thanks – We’re grateful as Christ was grateful, that we are heard as He is heard; That God is our Father who gives ear to our cries.

4 Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.

5 He will repay my enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth.

6 I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.

More than the downfall of our enemies, we give thanks to our God and Father, for He is our Helper, and He blesses us by way of help, coming from others.

Because we are helped, because we are saved, we will freely lift up sacrifices of praise to Him;

We shall find it very well with our souls, we shall deem it good to worship the Lord,

7 For He has delivered me out of all trouble; And my eye has seen its desire upon my enemies.

Father, thank You. For hearing me, for hearing us – for being so consistent and so faithful in presenting Your love, projecting Your goodness to one and all, that many more would come to the knowledge of Your saving grace, that many more would be brought to righteousness unto eternal life.

Through all we’ve transacted with, through all we’ve reached out to, You were with us, and You will continue to be with us.

The rains are persistent, but You are faithful.

The clouds and the cold swoop in, but You shall always be true.

Be glorified and magnified in all our circumstances! Oh, Lord, Father, Son, and Spirit, let Your goodness and grace continue to shine in and through us! Indeed, save us for Your name’s sake, vindicate us by Your endless might, that we would continue to praise and worship You, enjoying who You are and what You’ve done, in all of our days.

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.

3 Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.

4 One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.

5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 27:1-6

Thank You, Lord!

Halleluyah, and amen.
