Our Father, Our Righteous Salvation (Ps 71) – April 12, 2026 (147/365)

Doing things different, starting today. Will continue to write. Will continue to work out. We’re just smoothing processes out. I’ve done this before… only now, we’re going to try again, better.

Oh, I’d also like to share that it seems as if we’ve gotten massive favor in Mom’s issue with her credit card. Long story short, the card was stolen and used for nefarious purposes and after extended back-and-forth with the companies involved, a huge weight was lifted off of our shoulders.

When this happened and when the pain was still so fresh, we were crying at the parking lot of the Police Station, and we were praying. Out of our prayers, Mom was repeatedly saying, ‘All is well’, while what came to my mind was that God is our Father and part of our family, and that any assault against us is an assault against Him.

It’s been almost 2 months since, and we’re saying again: All is well. God is our Father, and He fights our battles for us.

I feel like I’m going to be sharing and preaching in that direction later – that what Word we speak at the beginning, is the same Word we’ll be speaking as things resolve.

Things started happening in Iran and we started feeling its effects, particularly by way of gas prices going up in ridiculous rates. A whole bunch of folks started saying that Trump’s to blame, that things are only going to get worse from here.. but for those of us who actually drive and are part of the body of Christ, our immediate response was that ‘God will provide‘.

I believe as things progress, we’ll keep saying that. God really will provide.

I reached out to the Lord for my own personal struggles with rejection and regret, and as I was just pouring everything out before the Lord, I was reminded of Psalm 46:10 – You know the verse: ‘Be still and know that I am God‘;

So I thought, I’d sing the song most associated with the verse… but to my surprise, it was the song that followed that brought everything together in my mind. It’s nice (well, at least for my range) to immediately follow Still with Way Maker in C.

So I sing now, as I will continue to sing through this valley – I will be still, and know that God is who He says He is; He is my Way Maker, my Miracle Worker, my Promise Keeper, and my Light in the Darkness. Even when I don’t see it or feel it, He never stops working. He moves in our midst and turns our lives around, healing, mending every heart.

In fact, I should probably also consider that I really should be still, considering how the verse was written; See the Psalmist could have said precisely that: ‘I will be still, and know that You are God’; But he wrote it like God was speaking to him. So, sure, I’ll continue to sing, but when I’m not, I’m still, and allowing God to move and speak, that I would know He is God Almighty.

So in our silent battles, up to the time of victory or breakthrough – Consider, more than we’re singing it, it’s God, our Father who speaks to us: ‘Be still‘.

Anything else? I’ll call ’em out as they come up.

For now… Thank You, Lord, for the reading of Your Word.

Psalm 71

God the Rock of Salvation

1 In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.

2 Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.

3 Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.

4 Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

5 For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.

When the Lord says ‘Deliver me in Your righteousness’, I take this as Him helping us to escape, and Him listening to us to save us, not because of what we say or do, but simply because saving us is His nature. He is righteous, therefore He saves us, as our Rock and Fortress.

Let us continue to put our trust and hope in Him, for He shall not allow us to be put to shame. He shall deliver us from the hand of the wicked, the unrighteous, and the cruel.

6 By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.

7 I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.

8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.

9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.

10 For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,

11 Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”

12 O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!

13 Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt.

14 But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.

The Beginning and the End upholds us from our beginning, and is close to help us as we approach our end. Because of this we praise and worship Him throughout our time here in this side of eternity.

Yes, let us continue to put our trust and hope in Him, for though our enemies unite to conspire against us, they shall be confounded, and they shall be consumed.

15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.

16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.

17 O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.

18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.

19 Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You?

20 You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

When we talk about our righteousness, we speak of our being in right-standing with God, and as such, give credit to Jesus Christ; It is by Christ’s finished work alone that we have been made righteous.

However, the way I see God’s righteousness is different, seeing as there’s no one higher for Him to be in right-standing with; No, God’s righteousness is right-standing in that He is upright, He is holy, He is good, and because He is good, He gives life. Because He is righteous, He brings life.

And as the Psalmist writes, God’s righteousness is very high, unlimited, and incomparable. Considering what we read earlier, it’s according to this great nature of our Father that we draw confidence… that He who has done great things shall not only rescue us from those who would call themselves our enemies; No, He shall also ensure that they shall be covered with reproach and dishonor.

It’s according to God’s righteousness that we are not only rescued, but also revived from the depths.

21 You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.

22 Also with the lute I will praise You— And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.

23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed.

24 My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.

Earlier we spoke on words we would speak before, during, and after things happen in our lives.

We spoke on God being our Provider, and our Father through it all.

We also spoke on God speaking to us, telling us to be still, and to know that He is who He says He is, and He does what He says He will do.

Here I am reminded that as we wait on the Lord, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we are idle… and, I mean, it’s not like we’re merely being still when those who call themselves our enemies are aggressive in stealing from us, killing us, and destroying all we’re concerned about, destroying all that concerns us.

No, we move in the hope and the trust we place in God. As we move, we are aware of our Father close to us, never leaving us; And this gives us more than enough reason and cause to burst forth in praise and rejoicing. We shall speak and sing of our God, knowing that as we move, He increases our greatness, and He comforts us on every side.

We speak of God’s righteousness, for those who seek our hurt have been confounded.

We sing of the God of Israel’s faithfulness, for He has redeemed us.

My God, that is who You are.
