No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be
lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.John 3:13-15
Christ crucified reminds us of 5 things:
- Jesus’ Body Afflicted For Our Healing
- Jesus’ Body Broken for Wholeness
- Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV): “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
- Matthew 8:17 (referencing Isaiah): “This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.'”
- 1 Peter 2:24 (ESV): “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”
- 1 Corinthians 11:24 (ESV): “And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'”
- John 6:51 (ESV, for context on wholeness): “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
- The New Covenant Cut in His Blood
- Forgiveness, Cleansing from Sin, and Righteousness Through His Blood
- Luke 22:20 (ESV): “And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.'”
- Matthew 26:28 (ESV): “For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- 1 Corinthians 11:25 (ESV): “In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.'”
- Ephesians 1:7 (ESV): “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”
- 1 John 1:7 (ESV): “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
- Romans 5:9 (ESV): “Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV): “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
- Hebrews 9:22 (ESV): “Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”
His blood washes, forgives, makes righteous, and declares us blameless.
5. Coming Boldly to His Table and Receiving the Inheritance
- Hebrews 4:16 (ESV): “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
- Hebrews 9:15 (ESV): “Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.”
- Psalm 103:2-5 (for preservation, healing, wholeness, prosperity in the righteous inheritance): “Bless the Lord, O my soul… who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Five things won by Christ; Because of Christ’s victory at the cross, we celebrate our healing, our wholeness, our forgiveness, our righteousness, and our inheritance.
DECLARATION:
Thank You Jesus, for Your broken body.
It is for my healing, my spouse’s healing and my children’s healing.
It is for my family’s healing.
Thank You Jesus, that by Your stripes, and by the beatings You bore,
and by the lashes on Your back, we are completely healed.
I believe and I receive.
Thank You Jesus, for the new covenant, cut in Your blood.
Your blood has brought me forgiveness and washed me from every sin.
I thank You that Your blood has made me righteous.
I celebrate and partake of the inheritance of the righteous, which is preservation, healing, wholeness and prosperity.
His body was broken so that I can be whole.
His blood was shed, so that I can be forgiven, righteous, and blameless.
I come boldly to His Table.
I receive health, wholeness, and life.
13 (God) has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.Colossians 1:13-15
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.2 Corinthians 5:17
Christ’s resurrection confirmed Him as the firstborn over the new creation.
By Christ’s death the old things have passed away; By Christ’s resurrection, behold, we are new creations; all things – thoughts, desires, priorities, focus, preferences – all things have become new.
Side note – 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2
All things have conformed to what is good and acceptable, conformed to the perfect will of God.
The Risen Christ, Our Hope
1 Corinthians 15:12-28
Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.
The Last Enemy Destroyed
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.
The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.
Three things won by Christ; Because of Christ’s resurrection, we celebrate our renewal, our present faith and testimony, and our hope for tomorrow. What is this hope? The crushing defeat of the enemy, and the full and complete victory of Christ.
DECLARATION:
Thank You, Jesus.
As You rose from the dead, so I rise a new creation;
The old has passed away, the new has come.
I have the mind of Christ. I have been made obedient from the heart.
Thank You Jesus, because You are alive!
You are the Author and Finisher of my Faith!
I overcome by Your blood, and by my testimony!
Thank You, Jesus! You’re alive, and I have hope!
I have this hope that serves as an anchor for my soul.
The enemy has been defeated;
As Christ is alive, so I am alive!
As Christ is victorious, so I am victorious!
