Powerful Stillness (Ps 61) – April 2, 2026 (132/365)

Be still, and know that God is who He says He is.

He is our very present Help in time of need. He is our Refuge, our Fortress and our Strength.

His Name is a strong Tower; We run to Him, and we are safe.

Indeed, we can run to His throne of grace in our time of need.

He is both willing and able to help us – Gracious, and glorious. Good, and great.

I will keep taking this in, day after day; I will continue to remind myself and the world of His goodness and of His trustworthiness.

I will continue to remind myself to be still, and to behold who God is, and what He does.

I will continue to wait on the Lord to move mightily, and as I wait, I know I am renewing my strength.

In the stillness, I am strong. In the quiet, I am reminded that my God and King is also sovereign and over everything and everyone else I am concerned about – which causes me to stay still, all the more.

I do want to point out that there have been a number of us whom I’ve been in contact with who also have ‘be still’ as their own Word for this season. I don’t think it’s because it’s Holy Week – I believe a whole bunch of us will continue to be still and wait on the Lord, fully trusting in Him, long after we celebrate Resurrection Sunday.

In fact, a brother of mine from another mother is calling this season ‘Sheep Mode’ – as in, we’re to truly place our full and complete trust upon the Shepherd. I couldn’t agree more. This is an opportune time for us to allow Him to lead us to lie down in green pastures.

We have more moments to allow Him to lead us by the peaceful and still waters, in spite of all the rage, hate and anger we see online.

In this season, we let Him guide us into the paths of life-giving righteousness, for His name to be further glorified. We are led in favor and under His watch, in a world so dark folks can’t tell the stability of the very next steps they take.

Oh, be still, friends. Be still, and allow the Shepherd to restore your soul. Be still, and know that the Lord is also restoring the souls of those you pray for. Be still, and know that He prepares a table for them in front of their enemies, just as He does with you. Be still, and rest in the Truth that He anoints us all, and our cup runs over.

Be still. The Holy Spirit continues to convict the world. We in the body of Christ, and the rest of the world that has yet to give the smallest consideration to Him and His finished work – All of us are faithfully, consistently, lovingly being led to repentance.

We are continually exposed to the goodness of God  – displayed through signs and wonders in the name of Jesus Christ.

Our senses are also continually exposed to the ruin and the chaos of this world, bringing us to godly sorrow – bringing us to seek nothing else but the goodness of God.

Friends, let us continue to be still, knowing that the Lord is working mightily in our own lives, just as much as He is working on the hearts, minds and souls of those we pray for and are concerned about.

We proclaim this Word now, as we shall when our Father presents His own divine resolution for all we’re experiencing.

Let us continue to flow. Let us keep trusting God. Let us not stop thanking God.

Let us abide in Him; Let us continue to take in His Word, and let us continue to be filled by the Holy Spirit.

Thank You, Father, for the reading of Your Word.

Psalm 61

Assurance of God’s Eternal Protection

To the Chief Musician. On a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David.

1 Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.

4 I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.

Selah

We have even more reason to be still. Oh, and it’s not that we’re quiet – No, we’re still, and we’re crying out to the Lord, calling upon Him for help, praying for our rescue, their salvation, everyone’s deliverance.

We have more cause to cry out when our hearts are overwhelmed, because as we cry, we’re laying our burdens as His feet.

God is not only our Fortress and our Refuge; He is also our Shelter and our Strong Tower. We are safe in His tabernacle; We are secure in the shelter of His wings.

5 For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.

6 You will prolong the king’s life, His years as many generations.

7 He shall abide before God forever. Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!

8 So I will sing praise to Your name forever,That I may daily perform my vows.

We are still and safe; We are safe, and still.

We wait on the Lord, we renew our strength, and our days are lengthened.

We abide in the Lord, we are washed by the Word, and we are preserved by His mercy and His truth.

As we wait, and as we abide, we continue to sing new songs of praise, composing new pieces of worship. It couldn’t be helped – we naturally burst out, glorifying His Name, because He is just that good!

Yesterday in Psalm 108 we have been assured of God’s victory over those who would call themselves our enemies; Here, in this Psalm, we’re also reminded of God’s eternal protection.

Trust in no one else but our Father to not only keep us safe, but to go after our enemies as well.

We come to Him, and He gives us rest. In His presence and in His refuge we are provided for, we are preserved and protected. We will lie down in peace, and we will rest, knowing that He makes us dwell in His safety.

I don’t necessarily know what we’re all going through right now – I don’t even know the full detail of what’s going on in and around me either. But let us take this time to just abide in Christ, to wait on Him.

Let us continue to be still, and let us behold our Father, and His magnificent works.
