They’ve been getting notifications all over the area, and they were advised to ‘seek shelter’; And this is just timely, considering that we run to Christ as our Shelter.
The Power of Psalm 91
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
Isaiah 60:2 NKJV
We may be in fear, and we understand that; However, we all have a blessed hope. It’s been prophesied – the darkness and deep darkness, the wars and the rumors of wars, and so on – but we continue to praise the Lord through the fear, knowing that He is with us, and He is coming back.
The darker things get, the brighter Christ shines in us. Look at Israel; Everyone’s trying to attack them, but one of the strongest nations is standing with them. They are not being moved. As Gentiles grafted into the Vine, we shall not be moved as well.
The Lord will see to it that we will walk in His fullness, blessing and favor. Our households will be protected.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.1 John 4:18
Even if the fear persists, notice that the perfect love goes further. We remember Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego; Though they be thrown in the fire made seven times hotter, none of their hair was singed, and their clothes remained intact – and it was Nebuchadnezzar, who threw them in the furnace, who saw that there was a Fourth Man with them.
And there it is – the Perfect Love is in the fear, and long after the fire dies down, it remains. Take it in. Imagine being in the midst of the fire… with Christ.
Imagine standing with David, defying Goliath right before taking him down.
Imagine sitting with Daniel, calm in the face of the pride of ravenously hungry lions.
We are with Christ – and a moment with Christ is better than a thousand elsewhere. Let us anchor our hearts in His protective love.
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is your keeper;
The LORD is your shade at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.Psalms 121:1-6
God’s Divine Protection
Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
First thing is for us to rest, to understand that God is the One who truly protects us. The UAE, the USA, etc. have their own defense systems, but the Lord is behind all of it. We rest in peace, and in His love and joy; In rest, there is no fear. There is no anxiety.
We have no control over what happens to us, but we can control how we respond… and we will respond with rest. We choose to respond with resting and dwelling (‘yashab’ – sit down, remain, settle); We are seated in the heavenly places in Christ, as Christ is seated at the Father’s right hand.
Christ paid for our rest… so rest. We are seated with Christ, and abiding under the shadow of the Most High – He is matchless in glory, infinitely superior and above all, and we enjoy protection in Him.
…Where is this secret place? How did we get there?
We’re with the Lord and in His secret place; We’re in His shelter, all through Christ and His finished work.
It’s in His secret place that we rest.
8 But Noah (whose name means rest) found grace in the eyes of the LORD.Genesis 6:8
God credited His righteousness to you. Rest in His grace. Rest, as Noah and His family rested in the ark.
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”Acts 4:12
Let’s value what it means to be in Christ, where we have His loving presence constantly with us, watching over us, and protecting us.
The secret place also speaks of intimacy, a place of closeness. We dwell… therefore, we abide.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.John 15:4
We are WITH Him. We stay with Him. We aren’t ‘going’ to Him, we’re already with Him. We’re not without Him. He is with us. We’re inside His presence. We dwell and abide in Him – and all that we do is to celebrate and enjoy this truth, to enjoy His enduring presence without striving!
In our consciousness and awareness of His presence, we certainly celebrate!
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
And, see here: We not only are brought to celebration, but we also certainly speak – and if we aren’t saying anything, we ought to! We ought to declare, ESPECIALLY in this silent trepidation, especially TO the darkness – That the LORD is our Refuge, the LORD is our Fortress, and in Him we trust!
Take note – the ‘refuge’ is where you go to for immediate relief from small scale attacks, the ‘fortress’ is where we dwell when things escalate – But Christ is our Refuge, and Christ is our Fortress!
Speak from the overflow of your heart – In Christ we shall trust, in Christ we trust, here and now – And, indeed, those who place their trust in the Lord shall not be put to shame. What can man do to us?
That’s faith – confession from your mouth, from the overflow of your heart. Speak! Our Father has the final say, the final word in all of our situations and circumstances. Speak His Word!
It’s not chanting magic words, it’s speaking Truth into our circumstances – speaking Truth over facts to the mountains!
3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Be assured, from His ‘surely’. Surely, God is in this place. Surely, God is with me. Surely, I am healed, I am restored. Surely, I am transformed by the renewing of my mind. Surely, no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and no curses said against me shall come to pass.
Surely, I will be the one to judge the mouth that comes against me. Surely, my Father never wastes His time, and all the time I’ve wasted, all the wrong decisions I’ve made, all the money I’ve lost, all the words I said by mistake, all the words I failed to heed or interpret, all the careless actions or regretful inactions – He takes and causes to work for my good.
5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
We are sheltered from attacks or missiles. We are protected from disease and disasters. God is watching us. He neither sleeps nor slumbers, keeping watch over us.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
The Sword of the Spirit – The Word of God is what we have against all that comes against us. The evil shall not come near us, nor shall it overcome our minds – all because we allow the Word of God to permeate into our souls, saturate our beings.
We stand untouched, and unharmed – all because of the Living Word, and the Word of Life – Christ in us, spoken out by the Word. Christ said ‘it is written’, so we are able to speak, ‘it is written’.
9 Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
We are are surrounded by His angels. God is not alone in protecting His creation. His heavenly host is ready to protect and guard His people. His heavenly messengers, if not His Spirit Himself – convicts us, reveals so much to us. His angels minister to the people of God.
After the temptations in the wilderness, it was the angels who ministered to Christ. And let’s also remember, we’re also sent to minister to each other.
The Church ought to be the premiere place for us to minister to each other, actually. It’s where fires start, and where fires are maintained. We find refuge in the Lord together.
As we find refuge in Christ, let’s serve as a refuge for the rest of the body.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
The enemy could only speak to us, as toothless lions, seeking for who he could devour – so don’t be devour-able. TREAD upon him. TRAMPLE him underfoot. Speak the Word.
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
Isaiah: If you have anything to boast about, boast that you know the Lord. Boast that you are known by Him.
For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
John 3:16 AMPC
Our experiencing God’s protection is a result of closeness and intimacy with Him.
Be so conscious of how close you are to the Lord and how utterly loved you are.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
Pray. Meditate on His Word. Abide in Him. Dwell in His secret place… and exercise dominion, trusting in the Lord. Declare the Word.
Follow His Wisdom. If we allow Him to lead us, He will direct us to safety. To blessing.
Look up to the Lord, and believe in His protection.
Christ is our Shelter.
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5
It’s clear that I need Him all the more. I don’t need a war happening at my doorstep to realize this.
I need Him, but at the same time I am thankful that He is here. He is with us. He is with me. Surely, He is with me. Surely, He is helping me. Surely, His Word comes alive in my life, in ways I am able to see and distinguish as only coming from Him. Surely, His angels minister to me, and to all I’m concerned about. Surely, I am healthy. Surely, I am strong, and on my way to being aesthetically strong. Surely, all my regrets and mistakes are seen by my Father – and He is, right now, working all of it for my good.
No weapon formed against us shall prosper. We shall only see the punishment of the wicked.
Christ. Is. My. Shelter. His Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for He makes me dwell in safety.
He ministers to me with wisdom. I call on Him, and He reveals things to me, that I have never seen before. He loves me with an everlasting love. I abide in His love. We abide in His love. We dwell in His safety.
Thank You, Lord. Forever. Thank You. Amen.
