Shared during giving:
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Hebrews 13:15
It’s good to give and receive financial offerings… but it’s even better if we all give by way of praying. If we want to give, we probably should consider praying. If we want to receive, same thing.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.Romans 6:12-14
What does it mean to be under grace? It means that the Spirit now has dominion over us… Consequently, we have authority and dominion because of the blood of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.John 15:1-3
For us to understand what it means to be under grace, we ought to remember how things were when we were under law. Being under the Law and the old covenant meant that all eyes were on us and our performance. We needed to work to reach God, and even then we were hopeless.
To be under grace is to understand that we not only reach Christ, but we are the branches, connected to Him as the Vine.
To be under grace is to understand that we are no longer the Vinedresser who takes things away, and we don’t prune ourselves.
We no longer are trying to reach God, but now we see Him as our Father, and He is also is our Vinedresser. He’s the One who lifts us up, He’s the One who prunes us.
Yesterday’s experience was certainly a good example of this. We’re still talking about bearing fruit in Q1 of this year, and we’re already experiencing so much about it. Because the enemy stole from us, we haven’t necessarily been ‘lifted up’, but certainly ‘moved’ to places we never go to (the police stations), and to bear the fruit of love, peace, patience, joy, and so on.
It’s caused us to proclaim Scripture in our lives. At first, I admit, when the assault was fresh, I was begging God for help, crying out repeatedly and possibly in vain, to Christ to assist us in this situation. The heavy traffic to the police stations were certainly good opportunities to personally cry out to the Lord, and I was just being raw with Him throughout, while trying to stay in my lane, and not giving my Mom a hard time while she rode shotgun.
Later on, our choice of words changed: We weren’t begging, we were proclaiming victory. We weren’t denying anything – In fact, as soon as I prayed and said that it hurts me and my family, we started crying. I actually also took the opportunity to cry and say that ‘it hurts’, referring not only to this heavy incident, but also to other painful things that’ve been happening to me and my household, in the recent weeks and months.
So we were crying, but we were also proclaiming resolution, blessing upon those who dared to come against us as children of the Most High.
“Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? 20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. 21 So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.”Genesis 50:19-21
We were moved. We were pruned. We proclaimed and declared how what was stolen from us would come back to us sevenfold, in terms of quality and quantity. I claimed the same thing, but for the other things that have gone or have been taken away. I claimed the same thing, but for everyone who left me, blocked me – and now I’m at a loss of words and ideas, trusting the Lord for who would come to me sevenfold, absolutely not in quantity but certainly in quality. I mean, at my age. I’m like Sarah, like that. Will I still experience that pleasure?
27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.Romans 8:27-28
We ended this quick message with a declaration to the rest of the congregation. No matter what they were going through, no matter what they lost or what was taken away from them, we gave God the glory; We praised and thanked our Father, because He is part of our family, and surely He will help us. Surely we are favored.
1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.1 John 3:1-2
All for the glory of our God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
God bless us.
