You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.John 15:3
As teachers and as leaders, I believe we ought to keep laboring to enter God’s rest; And this entails our taking in the Word, knowing that as we meditate on it, we are cleansed. Rather, the Word of Christ has already fully cleansed us, and our entire being continues to be cleansed from this realization.
Or, I don’t know what I’m letting off here. I just wanted to continue taking in the Word today before the rest of the day unfolds. I have all the high stakes in mind – the conversations that need to be initiated, the obligations and duties that have to be fulfilled, versus the standards I give to myself, standards I ought to keep on meeting each and every day.
As we’ve been sharing so often in these past weeks and days, ‘It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.‘ John 6:63
I need a fresh shot into my system. More than endorphins, more than a dopamine flush, I need a fresh dose of the Spirit, especially for the things in line for me later today.
I need a new dose into my being. More than mere recovery, I need a fresh serving of Life… Just because.
With all that’s in my mind, from the lingering regrets, to the condemnation brought about by my being aware of my procrastination; From the numerous temptations of gratification, comfort and convenience at the cost of real resources (time, money, reputation and sanity), to other external pressures weighing me down and/or distracting me from the straight and narrow…
I’m surprised and slightly fascinated that I’m (1) able to articulate all of these burdens and (2) apparently open about sharing all of this online to God knows who (to who they are, well, thank you for your patience, and sorry for all this chicken scratch).
Praise You, Lord, for the reading of Your Word. Again.
Jumping really far, to Psalm 61, because of verse 2.
Psalm 61
Assurance of God’s Eternal Protection
To the Chief Musician. On a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah
Christ, my Foundation, is also the Rock who is higher that us. The way I see it here and now, He is a Firm Foundation AND our Strong Tower; That is, He is the Rock we run to, and we are safe. In Christ we stand, and in Christ we are secure.
To Christ we cry; He hears us, though we cry out from so far away; He hears us, and He attends to us. And not only does He hear us, but He is attentively listening to what nonsense we blurt out, or whatever we find coming out of our mouths in our times of distress, in times of condemnation.
Thank You, Father.
5 For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
6 You will prolong the king’s life, His years as many generations.
7 He shall abide before God forever. Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!
8 So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may daily perform my vows.
Glory to our Savior and King – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. He is worthy of all praise and all glory, for not only is He our Good Shepherd, but also our High Priest who has fulfilled all His vows, going as far as laying His own life down to satisfy the thrice holy standards of the Perfect Law; He has performed His vows, that we who were once separated and doomed to eternal oblivion are now righteous unto eternal Life, reconciled to our divine Father, and guaranteed by the Holy Spirit.
We give Him the glory, for grace and Truth came through Him, and we are duly preserved – and not only preserved, but secured, and firmly standing.
Oh, all praise to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
For they continue to heal us and restore us, fully and entirely, by the reading of the Word.
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word. The rest of this day is Yours, as it always was; Thank You for holding me together, for ministering to all that concerns me, and all I’m concerned about.
Thank You for Your mercies that are new with every morning. Thank You for Your lovingkindness that endures forever.
Thank You for Your presence, and for Your great grace and full glory, manifested in and through Your everlasting love for us – yesterday, today, tomorrow, unto forever.
Thank You, Lord! Halleluyah!
