Psalm 20
Trust in the Name of the LORD Our God
TO THE CHOIRMASTER. A PSALM OF DAVID.
1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!
3 May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah
Truly, let us magnify the Lord, for He is worthy to be praised. Blessed be the Rock of our Salvation.
For in our times of trouble and distress, in our times of conflict from within, and turmoil from the outside, our Father not only observes us, but He answers us. He is our very present help – He is here, and He helps us.
In our vulnerability, we can count on our Father to protect us. To nurture us when we take damage, and to restore us even when we inflict pain upon ourselves.
We give glory to our Father, we give thanks to Jesus for making it all possible – that our help goes far above the hills, for it comes from the Creator of the mountains and the valleys. We have an unfathomable help, support that we’d rather be trusting than understanding.
Oh, thank Him! For He hears us when we call. He honors our shouts of worship, and takes our sacrifices of praise, responding with favor that only comes from Him.
Thank You, Lord! Thank You for this time, and thank You for ministering to every aspect of our being, as we go through Your Word.
4 May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!
Today I do give thanks to the Lord because He goes deeper than what desires I may have – He goes for my heart, or, rather, He already made my heart new. No longer am I bearing a heart of stone; Now, through Christ, He has given me a new heart, a new set of emotions, and with it also, new desires. The old desires which have been programmed according to the world and infused with sin? They have died together with the old heart. Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee that we who believe in Him have been made new.
No longer do I worry about making mistakes and blunders – my focus is now on what gives life, with Christ-bought confidence upon the Truth – that no matter what plans and desires are fulfilled, I am never without my Father, and He is always with me, thinking about me.
I know, this is all sounding so all over the place. This is me trying to reprogram myself again. This is me taking in the Word, so it cleanses me from the inside out, while it ministers to all outside me that concerns me.
I need these times to be realigned. My GPS needs to be recalculated, my being needs to be saturated in perfect love, that I operate without fear.
5 May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions!
6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright.
9 O LORD, save the king! May he answer us when we call.
So Father, I do thank You for my salvation. I thank You for through Christ, all my heart’s desires are granted, all my plans are fulfilled, all my petitions are fulfilled.
I thank You, Father, for in Christ I am anointed, and through Him am I saved by Your righteous right hand.
Now, as in always, my trust will always be in You, and in Your name.
You are our Firm Foundation. You are our Hiding Place, filling my heart with songs of deliverance… that even right now, my body, mind, soul and spirit are being transformed and renewed.
Thank You, Father. Thank You for Life, for Light, and for Love, all poured out upon us, filling us through Christ and His finished work.
Thank You, Father, for Your Spirit, present here and now, convicting me as always, of sin, righteousness and judgment.
Thank You, Holy Spirit, for reminding me of how hopeless things are on my own. For assuring me that here and now, I am as close to God as I could ever be, and He is as a Father always thinking about me, and thinking about me right now.
Thank You, Holy Spirit, for indeed, all of this shall pass away and the enemy of our souls will eventually meet his final and absolute judgment.
Thank You, Lord, for everything. You set us free of sin, and have made us new. No longer are we bound by the lusts of the flesh, but we are directed and given due guidance by way of the Spirit.
No longer are we obligated to do the works of the flesh, for Your Spirit is alive in us, and we bear the fruits of Christ, who is the Vine we abide in.
Thank You, Father, that in the face of all that’s threatening us today, we are able to love as Christ loves us. We are able to project peace and joy, as the Spirit fills us with peace beyond understanding, and joy unspeakable.
Thank You, Father, for the fruits we bear, no matter what.
Oh, Thank You, Lord, that here and now, I am being ministered to, with every word I type, and with every breath I take, constantly, consistently being changed, consistently moving from glory to glory.
You are Faithful and True. Thank You so much, Father.
You are our Firm Foundation. You are our Hiding Place, filling my heart with songs of deliverance… that even right now, my body, mind, soul and spirit are being transformed and renewed.
Amen.
