Psalm 14
The Fool Says, There Is No God
TO THE CHOIRMASTER. OF DAVID.
1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.
3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD?
5 There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.
6 You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
I give glory to the God of Israel; the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I praise the God of David, from whose bloodline Jesus Christ / Yeshua Ha’Mashiach, the Messiah and the only begotten Son of the Living God was born.
Jesus was born as one of us, lived as one of us, within the confines of time and space, toiling with us in this reality, eating, speaking, weeping, laughing with us, all the while dwelling with His heavenly Father, and through His words, actions and miracles, showed the true nature of the one true God.
He further demonstrated this by laying His life down, offering His body and blood as THE sacrifice for our sin. He took on the complete consequence of sin, dying the death we deserved, draining the cup of oblivion down to the last drops.
After 3 days He rose again, as proof that sin had been fully propitiated, and as proof that He has power over the grave; Death could not hold Him down.
He rose again, as a new creation, demonstrating that all who would believe in Him are not only forgiven but consequently dead to sin and the flesh; Those who believe in Him are new creations, fully righteous and absolutely reconciled to God.
After 40 days He ascended into heaven, as was necessary for Him so He would not be one place at one time within this wretched world; His ascent implied the descent of the Holy Spirit, the sign that we have been seated with Him in the heavenly places, and that even here and now, He never leaves us nor forsakes us.
I give glory to our God, for it is by the power of the Holy Spirit, and by the mind of Christ that we have come to these realizations, that we would be completely confident of His righteousness unto eternal life, not ‘in the sweet by and by’, but today and now.
His presence is here. Even as my body aches, and as the lusts of the flesh have their way with my mind and strength. I have nothing to fear, because His perfect love not only casts it out, but ministers to me as well.
I mourn the absence of people I’ve loved, people who have rejected me – I long for them, but at the same time I am brought to remember that those who have left me behind remind me of who stays.
By the power of the Holy Spirit I remember my family – my mother and my brothers and their families – who love me and will always love me. I remember extended family and friends who still choose to stay.
Most of all, I remember that through these fellows I am never alone – for Christ’s presence is in each and every one of them, as He is always with me.
Through the pain and rejection I am brought to focus on the peace that goes beyond human understanding, and the manifest presence and closeness of the Creator of the Universe and all seen and unseen – Here with me, now.
God is real, God is here. He is our Father.
Through His Son, Jesus Christ, I have been cleaned of all corruption, and minute by minute and with every breath I take, my deeds are being integrated with His eternal life and righteousness, more and more and more.
We shall not be in fear or terror permanently, for our God loves us with an everlasting love.
God is our Refuge, in whom we join Israel and Jacob in rejoicing.
Rejoice in the Lord, and again I say, rejoice!
For He is good, and He is good to us, here and now, all the time, for all time.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His love truly endures forever. Amen!
This world has nothing for me. In Christ, I have all I need. His Word is a guide; His Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
He equips me. Even right now, He is with me, ministering to me, speaking to my heart, mind, body and soul – He speaks life, and life abundant; He speaks light, and there is light.
For all that’s going on, and for all that is to come, He ministers to me very well, and deserves recognition and praise.
For in all that’s happened – for in all I’ve wasted, in all I’ve squandered, in all my mistakes, in all my shortcomings, I claim the promise that in His infinite wisdom He is able to cause all the unanswered questions, all the unresolved trauma, all the what-ifs and if-onlys – He causes ALL, past and present, to work for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. In other words, whatever happens to me, whatever happened to me, whatever IS happening to me, right now; Our good Father sees all of it and moves so all of it works, somehow, some way, in the best way, for the greater good. And for this, I claim peace for my past and present.
Such is the mind of Christ, I believe – a mind of peace, a mind secure and confident that God is with us always, for us and not against us, and through Christ, nothing can ever separate us. It ministers to my past and present, and this same mind of Christ gives me direction and vision for the future.
For all that’s to come – in church, in my service and in the church as a whole; in our business, and in my family and in my personal ventures – I claim the promise that the Holy Spirit shall teach me where I should go, causing me not to stumble to the left or right, but to keep going straight.
My God is an awesome God, who, right now, is healing and restoring me.
Healing and restoring all that concerns me. Healing and restoring everyone I’m concerned about.
And in all this… He takes all the glory, He takes all the praise – He deserves it.
Thank You, Father.
