Psalm 7 – January 07, 2026 (4/365)

Psalm 07

Prayer and Praise for Deliverance from Enemies

A Meditation of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.

1 O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me,

2 Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.

3 O LORD my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands,

4 If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause,

5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me; Yes, let him trample my life to the earth, And lay my honor in the dust. Selah

Imagine having so much trust in the Lord that you’re able to take responsibility for any evil you did against anyone who was at peace with you. And you’re able to be so accountable that you would ask the One who knows and sees everything to seek out your iniquity for you.

I feel as if we can be so bold and confident, not arrogant mind you, to say such things, because we don’t trust in our own integrity; No, our faith (which was authored in us) is in the Lord and His power and might, certainly not in ourselves. It’s the Lord we cry out to, it’s the Lord we lift all things up to.

Recently I swiped up to a reel which explained how Batman had a contingency plan against everyone in the Justice League, and to my surprise, the AI voice also mentioned he had a contingency plan against himself – a type of android who would defeat Batman when he would demonstrate extreme deviance.

I suppose that this is the same mind that David had, something in the lines of, ‘Lord, seek me out, and if any wrong is found, let my enemies overtake me.‘.. Not so he would prove himself blameless, but so that the Lord would show Himself good and glorious – First, towards himself, and as we would read in the coming verses, to the rest of the world… or, apparently, to Cush, and his enemies.

6 Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; Lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded!

7 So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; For their sakes, therefore, return on high.

8 The LORD shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, And according to my integrity within me.

9 Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.

It’s as if David was fully aware of the wickedness that was in him as much as it was in the rest of mankind. This is, after all, the Old Testament, prior to Christ and His finished work. But here we also see our absolute need for the Lord, and the Lord alone, to save us from sin and iniquity.

For His’ name’s sake, the Lord ends the wicked, and establishes the just. For the sake of His righteousness, He returns on high and judges the peoples.

As much as we say He is loving, and as much as we say He is good and gracious, here we take time to proclaim His absolutely infinite power – His greatness, and His glory!

Our Good Father is also our Great God… and our trust is in Him.

10 My defense is of God, Who saves the upright in heart.

11 God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day.

12 If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready.

13 He also prepares for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.

14 Behold, the wicked brings forth iniquity; Yes, he conceives trouble and brings forth falsehood.

15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

16 His trouble shall return upon his own head, And his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown.

17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

Be exalted and praised, oh God, my Father. For we run to you, not only because of You being our Father, but also because of our dependence on Him as our LORD. You are our righteous defense, our just judge who totally and completely destroys all wickedness.

Indeed, Jesus, by the Cross You have demonstrated Your everlasting love, willing to give absolutely everything up that we who believe in You would be reconciled and saved.

Here we remember, that by the Empty Tomb, You have also demonstrated Your absolute superiority and power over sin, death, flesh and the grave.

By Your finished work, Jesus, You have told us, in such sincerity, and in all truth – You are both WILLING and ABLE to save us! Thank You so much, Lord!

You deserve all the glory and praise. You deserve all adoration and all recognition. We need You in these times, and we need You more than ever. Thank You for never failing us, for never leaving nor forsaking us. Thank You for being for us, and not against us. Thank You, for through You, nothing can ever separate us from our Father’s love!

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!

Praise Him, all creatures here below!

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host!

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! Amen, and amen!
