Brother Juan and Sister Helen messaged me out of the blue to share Joshua 1:8 to me.
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:8
The Word and the Spirit, the Spirit and the Word.
Keeping in mind: The Fruit of the Spirit. Also, the Word is Spirit and it is Life.
1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Psalms 1:1-3
I also remember Psalm 119, and the writer’s emphasis on the value of His Word.
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
John 6:63
Also considering a few verses that follow, verses 66 to 69: 66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”John 6:66-69
With that in mind, we also remember Christ’s conversation, again with Peter, in the Gospel of Matthew:
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”Matthew 16:13-19
The revelation of Christ comes from the Lord, and from His Spirit.
6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”—
10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:6-11
Christ has the words of eternal life.
Christ’s words He speaks to us are Spirit, and they are Life.
The Spirit of God knows the deep things of God.
We meditate on the words of Christ, and we shall be as trees, planted by the rivers of water, that bring forth fruit in its season.
The Word is Spirit, and it is Life.
13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
John 16:13-14
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, who guides us and leads us into all Truth.
Whatever He hears, He will speak. He will tell us things to come.
The Word is Spirit, and the Spirit glorifies Christ.
The Word therefore glorifies Christ… Points to Christ.
The Spirit proceeds from the Father, sent to us by Christ; He will testify of Christ.
The Word is Spirit, and the Spirit glorifies and testifies of Christ.
By Christ, we have been baptized by the Holy Spirit; We receive power when the Spirit has come upon us (Acts 1:5, 8); This Spirit IS the Spirit of Truth that leads us to all Truth.
The Word, Christ, and the Spirit.
The Word points to Christ. The Spirit points to Christ.
The Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. (John 1: 1, 14)
As it was in the beginning, so it is in the end: 11 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. 13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. Revelation 19:11-13
Christ IS the Word of God. The Spirit testifies of Christ, to whom the Scriptures point to.
Meditation on the Word is meditations with the Spirit… and it all points to Christ and His finished work.
Meditation on Christ and His finished work stirs up the Spirit, and points us to the Word.
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:5
Seen on Threads: ‘Linguistics build nations as they execute the precise vibrations of the will.‘
Words wield power.
This is why we ought to realize the value of simplification, connection, and association.
Simplification is saying more with less to no words.
Connection and Association is recognizing relations and links between words.
“The data is there. We just know what to do with it.” – Damian Lewis as Bobby Axelrod, Billions
Words are data… but the Word (capital W) transcends being mere data and resource.
The Word is to be seen and received as Spirit and life. Meaning, it impacts our simplification, and it impacts our ability to connect and associate.
Words are data. Data is knowledge. Intelligence is knowing what to do with the knowledge. Wisdom is knowing what to do with the intelligence.
…or is it?
Maybe all this applies, and then we ask, what is knowing what to do with the wisdom?
…and here’s where I’m reminded – the fear of the LORD is as much the end, as it is the beginning of wisdom.
True wisdom ushers in the fear of the Lord. See, up until the fear of the Lord, it’s not as if we, as humans, had no data, knowledge, intelligence, and even wisdom. I feel like it’s just that we weren’t aware of it, we didn’t value it, we even rejected it, and/or we didn’t know what to do with it.
But each and every one of us have these things quantified. Hence, things and terms such as IQ, or Intelligence Quotient.
But when it comes to the fear of the LORD? Well, you either have it or you don’t. You either have all of it, or none of it.
You either have the fear of the LORD, or you don’t.
Consequently:
You have full salvation, or you aren’t saved at all.
You can only have ALL of Christ; and not just some of Him.
You have full and absolute freedom from the flesh, or you are wholly enslaved to it.
You are either completely dead to sin, or you aren’t.
All, or nothing. All. The old has completely, all passed away. Behold, the new has come… Absolutely. Fully. Completely.
Because of Christ’s finished work, you ARE a new creation, through and through. Born again, indeed.
Completely absolved of the second death, fully born in to newness of eternal, everlasting life.
Now.
We have a new mind: the Mind of Christ.
We have a new Spirit: Not a spirit of fear, but a Spirit of power, love, and sound judgment.
We have a new heart: No longer a heart of stone, but an obedient heart; And, again, not a quantifiable obedience, but we have been made absolutely obedient from the heart.
Now.
New wisdom.
New intelligence.
New knowledge.
New data.
New words.
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:5
Amen.
