A little less than an hour and a half before work. Again. And while I’m not feeling exactly excited, nor am I feeling peachy about it all, I am thankful now, as the Holy Spirit flows in and through me.
I’m thankful for our cousin who comes and helps us out with the laundry and the general cleanliness of the home, going as far as feeding our pets at the end of the day, for a couple of times a week. I’m only so quick to give thanks to the Lord for her right now because that’s her cellphone I’m hearing, playing YouTube outside while she cleans used sheets and towels.
I’m thankful for my Mom, and for her health. I thank God for He is glorified as she is kept healthy and safe in His arms, and I thank God because He is continually at work in and through her, faithful to her now as He’s always been for all the decades and in all the places she’s been in this world – No doubt that the Lord is and will always continue being with her, His presence made known in the days, months and years to come.
I’m thankful for this opportunity to share and express my gratefulness on such a medium, and in this capacity. I’m thankful for the time that remains (even when I am so prone to waste my time) to type all of this, and to give thanks to God, just as we’ve been made new creations to do.
I’m thankful for lessons. I’m thankful for learning opportunities, in each and every turn, and in each and every moment of our existence here in this world – Lessons that tell me that true love is also seen in recognizing when things end, and enduring the pain, holding on to the prospect and promise of prayer. I’m thankful, consequently, for the opportunity and privilege I have, just as we all have in the body of Christ, to call upon the name of the Lord, and to cry out to Him in prayer, knowing that He hears us…
I’m thankful to the Lord, because we seek Him, He hears us, and He answers us. The Lord is faithful to rescue us from our distress. The Lord is with me now, through all the pain and the fear. In fact, I’m thankful to the Lord for His perfect love that casts out all fear.
Yes, even right now, His perfect love reigns over my heart and my mind, ministering to my entire being, that I am not gripped firmly by fear – No, I have the Creator of the Universe holding me together, and keeping me in His hands even when I lack the power to hold on.
Yes, even right now, I praise and thank God – for the same Father who worked in our own hearts and minds is able to work in the lives of others who are involved in our lives by way of contention. I thank God, for as so many things happened within the span of 7 days (with Creation as our prime example), I believe so many things can happen in our conflicts, and in conflicts around us, in conflicts involving more than us but also those who are within our spheres of influence.
I give glory and thanks to God, for resolution and for His divine power to work in and through all of creation and in and through hearts and minds, within the span of 7 days. I thank God, because He HAS been working and IS working right now, effectively – in situations, areas, and even people far beyond our reach.
Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Father. Thank You, Jesus. Thank You for working in and through us, working around us, working all things for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Oh, with all that’s happening right now, all that can be done is to just raise all of it up to You, because in far too many of these circumstances we find ourselves with absolutely NOTHING else to do but to pray.
Thank You, Father. Thank You for Your lovingkindness ministering in and through us, through all of this. Work Your breakthroughs, work Your miracles; Remind us of Your sheer power and wisdom that ensures that all of us are in the right place at the right time, according to Your limitless might and everlasting love…
…and as this week progresses, may we behold Your grace and give glory to Your name. Now, as in always. Our burdens, our anxiety, our fear, our wishes, our desires – all of us, we lift to You.
Thanks be to God
Who always causes us to triumph in His name
Thanks be to God, thanks be to God
We have overcome, hallelujah, hallelujah
We have overcome by the power of Your name
Jesus, You’re the One, hallelujah, hallelujah
The One who made a way for us
To triumph in His name
Psalm 124
The LORD the Defense of His People
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1 “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side,” Let Israel now say—
2 “If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, When men rose up against us,
3 Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;
4 Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;
5 Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”
6 Blessed be the LORD, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
Let us take a little more time today to declare that the same Father who is faithfully working in and around us, within our awareness and beyond our senses – He is just as present with us as He is divinely diligent in responding to all we entrust Him with.
Our Father is faithful, and He is faithfully on our side, as the Lord who, as He did for Israel, did not allow us to be swallowed up alive by those who call themselves our enemies, or smothered in the waters of this fallen world.
Let us take a little more time to proclaim His goodness and grace, protecting us from all who would prey on us or entrap us.
Oh, this is a personal word for me today. I’m thankful, because my Father will not allow those who circle over me, to take advantage of me. They can only watch and gnash their teeth as my Father prepares a table before me, in their presence.
I’m thankful, because my Father will not allow me to step on any trap, or fall for any lures set before myself or those I hold close to my heart. We will not fall for their snares.
Thank You, Lord, for today. Thank You for this week. Thank You, for being with us through it all. You are on our side, and by Christ, nothing can ever separate us. By Christ, You are for us, and not against us. In Christ, we are not condemned, but reconciled to You, our Father.
To You be all the glory and praise forever. Amen, and amen.
