I know I wrote on this at least twice before. I’m sorry if it’s redundant but I’m going back to it again.
But first… Now, as in always, I am thankful.
I am thankful, here and now, for every breath that I take. Every movement, every punch I throw, every shift of the gear, every step.
Every beat of my heart, every glance I take, every character I press, every word I write – All done in remembrance of the salvation that I have in Christ, a celebration of our reconciliation with the one and only God, the Creator of all, who is our Father.
I am thankful for the goodness of God, ever present, and ever true and real in our lives. Brought all the more real, seen all the more even in all the trials – All that supposedly wears us down actually builds us up, by way of reminding us that we do not stand on our own strength.
All the tests and trials proving all the more, how Christ is our firm Foundation, and the Anchor of our souls.
I am thankful, here and now, for His love everlasting, present not only here with me, but in all that concerns me. He causes all things to work for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
I am all the more thankful, because of the peace that follows that promise. I don’t need to know why everything happens, and I don’t need to know where everything leads. I just know that our Father sees ALL of it and causes all of it to move and work for the good of the body of Christ.
This eternally wise Strategist is our Father, and we can trust in Him, always. Nothing can ever separate us from His love.
For that too, I am absolutely thankful.
Psalm 19
The Law of the LORD Is Perfect
TO THE CHOIRMASTER. A PSALM OF DAVID.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
Creation is filled with the glory of our Lord. We see it in the skies and in the clouds, in the stars and in the night sky. When we are brought to awe, we are brought to worship… and, I dare say, it also works the other way around.
There is nothing new under the sun, as Solomon once wrote – however, this does not stop us to testify of His goodness in the daylight. Filled with the Holy Spirit of peace, adoption and comfort, we overflow with His words.
And in the night, as we lay our heads down and sleep, The same Spirit ministers to us, in the stillness and in the darkness, filling young and old with dreams and revelations, realizations and revelations.
We give thanks to God, for the words He spoke in the beginning are timeless – meaning, even in this day and age, so many years and generations since Adam, He spoke, ‘Let there be light!‘; And, here and now, there is STILL light.
The Word of the Lord is as timeless as it is borderless – reaching to the deepest crevices of the inner cities, and to the most remote areas at the ends of the earth.
The Word of the Lord is strong and excited, engulfing all of reality – impacting the greatest of heavenly bodies, down to the smallest of atoms, piercing to the lowliest of minds, to the hardest of hearts.
And we continue to receive the promises of the Word of God. Whether we see the Word of the Lord here in Scripture, or in our daily lives as we speak in the day and listen in the night, or in the form of our Savior, Jesus, who is the Word of Life, and the Living Word…
We enjoy the benefits of God’s Word:
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
We praise and thank God for the Word: Perfect and reviving, sure and educating, right and encouraging, pure and enlightening.
We thank our Father for His Word, for it is clean, and it endures; It is true, and righteous; Precious and sweet…
…in fact, SO precious, so sweet for us, that I dare say that the Word itself, the Word Himself is its own reward.
Christ is our Word, and He is our Reward. What a great revelation.
12 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
Indeed, this is such a timely prayer.
We see so much happening around the world, and so much happening, literally coming closer and closer to home.
But here, we’re also reminded of what sabotages us from within – errors. Hidden faults. Presumptuous sin. Great transgression.
Yet, as I mentioned earlier – the more the world shakes, the more we are reminded of our firm Foundation.
The more that darkness spreads, the more we see the Light.
And, yes, the more we are confronted with sin, and the more we are tempted; Oh, praise our Father, for His Word reveals itself even more.
Where sin abounds, grace abounds so much more.
Thank You, Lord, for Your Word. For the promises of Your Word. For the Holy Spirit, the Herald of Your Word.
Speak Life into our mortal bodies, as we speak Christ in all our situations, circumstances, and conditions.
You are worthy of all praise and glory.
You are awesome, You are mighty, You are here.
Thank You, Jesus. You are my Word, You are my Home.
Halleluyah.
