Psalm 10 (327/365)

Status: It is October 11, 2025. 3:31pm. I have gone through three workout sessions, and two writing sessions so far.

I am feeling exhaustion. I’m thinking to myself now: This is me physically and mentally making a comeback from self-sabotage, but this is also me intentionally taking time away from everything else, that I would let everything out for all to see, for the glory of God to be seen in our lives, and, most of all, as we’ve written in the previous article, for the message to be projected and shared, loud and clear: Be reconciled to God.

This is me picking up where I left off last night, in Psalm 10 – where we take in more of who we are in Christ, by way of seeing how the wicked move and speak in this world.

Psalm 10

A Song of Confidence in God’s Triumph over Evil

1 Why do You stand afar off, O LORD? Why do You hide in times of trouble?

2 The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.

Let’s take a look at the righteous in Christ, from this perspective of the wicked.

Because of Christ, the Lord stands in our stead, and is our very present help in time of trouble.

Christ has humbled us in place of pride; As Christ has compassion over us, so we have compassion on others, and especially upon the poor; We actively choose not to condemn or to persecute – we overflow in compassion.

If the wicked are caught in the plots they have devised, we commit our plans to the Lord, and He establishes our steps. On top of this, we move forth, knowing that God has plans to prosper us and not to harm us; God has plans to give us a hope and a bright future… ALSO, we rejoice – for, apparently, the plans He mentions in Jeremiah, He fulfilled in Isaiah:

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.Isaiah 55:11

Our Father does not waste time with His words, nor are His words wasted. They have infinite value, in that they accomplish His will – or, what He pleases.

8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men; Recall to mind, O you transgressors.

9 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’

11 Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it. Isaiah 46:8-11

Tita/Ptra Nitz pointed out that the NLT reads verse 10 differently: Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.

And with that pointed out, we put it together – He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, He has plans to give us hope and a bright future… and, everything He plans will come to pass.

That is the bottom line, regardless of what we are seeing in the present and in the immediate future. No matter what difficulties we see, whether up close and personal, or weighing us down from our past, or threatening us in the coming days – we are bold to say that all of God’s plans for us are coming to pass.

The works of the wicked may be successful here and now, and they may even exact such tribulation over each and every one of us… But, we always need to remember, these works are ultimately contained within the confines of time and space.

We look, not towards the prosperity of the wicked, but towards divine favor and providence, which has, is, and shall come to pass; They are divine plans of a divine Father. Infinite and eternal plans made for us, by our infinite and eternal Father.

3 For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the LORD.

4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.

We are confident because Christ is our heart’s desire, fully fulfilled. We find contentment beyond greed, because the Lord has not renounced us, but claimed us.

Again, we are confident, and we are confident in our entire being – more than seen in our countenance but in our voice and in our actions, because we know that through Christ, God has sought us and He has found us. And we are not merely confident, but in full out joy, knowing that God always thinks about us.

5 His ways are always prospering; Your judgments are far above, out of his sight; As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.

6 He has said in his heart, “I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity.”

7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.

Well now. Here’s what bothers me. The wicked’s ways are always prospering. I’m reconciling this and rationalizing this by way of saying that in terms of this reality, and in this existence, I suppose we’re to admit that they will have some sort of edge in terms of their ways.

And there it is. If you read into the rest of the verse, I suppose we can draw this conclusion – sure, the wicked’s ways are always prospering… BUT God’s judgments go beyond all that they do, and all that they reap.

The Word for ‘Judgments’: מִשְׁפָּט /  mishpâṭ /  mish-pawt’

From H8199; properly a verdict (favorable or unfavorable) pronounced judicially, especially a sentence or formal decree (human or (particularly) divine law, individual or collectively), including the act, the place, the suit, the crime, and the penalty; abstractly justice, including a particular right, or privilege (statutory or customary), or even a style: –  + adversary, ceremony, charge, X crime, custom, desert, determination, discretion, disposing, due, fashion, form, to be judged, judgment, just (-ice, -ly), (manner of) law (-ful), manner, measure, (due) order, ordinance, right, sentence, usest, X worthy, + wrong.

God’s Words are infinitely superior to anything that happens to us, and anything that we make happen. We cling to His Word, just as His Word is written on our hearts.

Christ’s spoke of His victory at the cross, when He said, ‘It is finished.‘ Victory was proclaimed and that stands high and above anything that the wicked counts as towards their favor.

8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages; In the secret places he murders the innocent; His eyes are secretly fixed on the helpless.

9 He lies in wait secretly, as a lion in his den; He lies in wait to catch the poor; He catches the poor when he draws him into his net.

10 So he crouches, he lies low, That the helpless may fall by his strength.

11 He has said in his heart, “God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see.”

The wicked murders in the darkness, but as we bring Christ, we call forth life in broad daylight.

He targets the weak and the helpless as the only prey he can devour – We gird our loins and charge, with Christ as our banner of victory.

While he tried in vain to assure himself of his not being seen in the darkness, we know as well as he does, that the eye of the Lord is upon every heart – and, in our case, He looks upon us and all that we are, with favor – again, as a Father.

Our God is favor upon the righteous in Christ, just as He is the Avenger against the powers and principalities of this fallen reality.

12 Arise, O LORD! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble.

13 Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, “You will not require an account.”

14 But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, To repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless.

15 Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man; Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

Thank You, Lord. Indeed, I claim the promise of Your Word, as I have claimed it for myself, and for those close to my heart, in the past – You ARE the Father, You ARE the Helper of the fatherless.

Let it be today, as it always has been. Thank You for the promise of Your Word.

Confound the plans and the moves of the enemy, Father – Let ALL come to the knowledge of Your saving grace.

Let reconciliation happen. Let reunion be seen and known. Oh, set order upon us. Thank You.

16 The LORD is King forever and ever; The nations have perished out of His land.

17 LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear,

18 To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, That the man of the earth may oppress no more.

We give our God all the glory and praise, for all He has done, and all that He is doing.

We look in anticipation and hope, bracing ourselves for all that is to come.

He deserves all the glory, He deserves all the praise.

Amen.
