Recap: The Cycle of Defeat, and the Cycle of Victory

Quick difference is the consciousness of guilt, shift to our Truth – the consciousness of righteousness.

Jesus Paid It All

facilitated by Dox

A good number of people have debts… But imagine a debt without a light at the end of the tunnel, extending unto forever – that’s the debt we had before we believed in Christ.

13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14

Jesus paid it all. Our sins are forever forgiven.

  1. Jesus Paid For Our Sins.

He cancelled the record of debt. He blotted out and erased the record of sin, our wrongs, our transgressions.

12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”Hebrews 8:12

There was no magic wand to make the sins disappear. We were in spiritual bankruptcy and this was paid in full by Christ. Whatever we owed, whatever penalty we incurred was fully and completely paid by Christ.

My sin, not in part, but the whole

Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Forgiveness is NOT a debit card. Sin is not measured in percentages. You’re either a sinner or you aren’t. Consequently, you are forgiven, or you’re not… and through Christ, you are forgiven. BECAUSE of Christ, you are forgiven – not in installments, no expiry date. You are FORGIVEN, and you are forgiven FULLY.

7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,Ephesians 1:7

12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake.1 John 2:12

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,Psalms 103:1-3

Unconditional love is unconditional forgiveness. It’s a gift to receive, and in Christ Jesus, we have it.

Jesus suffered the punishment of our sins. There is no reason for us to perform penance. All of it was paid in Christ. The wages of sin is death, and Jesus Christ drained the cup down to its dregs.

  1. The Debt Was Paid In Full

“He canceled the record of debt that stood against us… nailing it to the cross.”

Sin creates a debt we can’t pay. The law demanded perfection, but we failed.

Jesus stepped in as the Lamb of God and paid the debt completely.

Not “some of it.” Not “most of it.” All of it.

Under grace, we have nothing to pay back or to work FOR.

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:19-22

And, actually, Jesus didn’t just fully pay… He overpaid. He was the absolute overpayment for our sins. I suppose that if we were going to quantify it, that would definitely be the case. If Saul killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands… the High Priest paid for our sins, and Christ paid for all time, and once for all.

  1. Jesus Paid For Our Healing

If sin, sickness and death came after the fall, then righteousness, perfection and life was guaranteed in the resurrection.

• Jesus didn’t just settle one account (sin). He settled the whole bill.

• Sin brought death, and with it sickness, curse, and bondage.

• At the cross, Jesus became our substitute:

○ He bore our sin.

○ He bore our shame.

○ He bore our sickness.

Apparently forgiveness is not without healing.

4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5

16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”Matthew 8:16-17

14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.James 5:14-16

Sin and sickness are dealt together in Christ. If Christ paid for it, we should walk in it.

GRACE SUPPLIES. FAITH RECEIVES.

• Grace supplies → Everything you’ll ever need (forgiveness, healing, provision, peace, wisdom) was already secured by Jesus at the cross. It’s not “in process,” it’s done.

Grace = God’s supply.

• Faith receives → Our role isn’t to “make” God do something—it’s to take hold of what He’s already made available. Faith is like the hand that grabs what grace has already put on the table.

Without grace, faith has nothing to claim. Without faith, grace remains untouched.

2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.Romans 5:2

Jesus paid it all. Christ is the full and final payment for sin, sickness, shame and separation. Nothing we do or did can ever diminish His finished work.

BECAUSE OF HIS SACRIFICE:

Our sins are forgiven, completely and eternally.

Our hearts are cleansed, and our consciences are free.

Our bodies and souls are covered by His healing and provision.

We have bold access to God’s presence, standing firmly in His grace.

Insights

Concern: Folks like to talk about not having enough faith.

I’m reminded of the need to look at completeness. Perfection.

12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.Hebrews 10:12-14

Thank God for His amazing grace. So thankful to Christ for all He has done, and for all that is done. Amen.
