The Value Of The Word (Psalm 19) – August 19, 2025 (288/365)

Blessings and honor and power ascribed to the name of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

We take time to recognize and stay in awe of His majesty – the humble One who forsook His eternal glory to be born as One of us, and lay everything down is now the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Faithful and True.

We give Him praise for what He has done for us, and for how absolute and complete He has done it. Indeed, when He said ‘it is finished‘, it was truly finished.

Yet, what was finished? Our freedom from sin, rescue from death, and deliverance from eternal judgment was finished. Our obligation to the Law and to the power of the flesh was completely removed. Our reconciliation with God, our adoption and our grafting into the Vine – that’s complete, that’s finished. Our salvation was guaranteed, and further validated by the Holy Spirit fully poured upon us – that, now, we no longer walk by the flesh but live according to the Spirit of power, love, and sound mind.

So much was finished by the finished work of Christ.

Blessings and honor and power ascribed to the name of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 19

The Law of the LORD Is Perfect

TO THE CHOIRMASTER. A PSALM OF DAVID.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.

4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Here we are reminded of the manifest glory of God, not merely hidden in the eternities, but seen in all of His creation.

Look up to the sky and behold the greatness and glory of our everlasting Father.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul;

the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;

8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;

the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;

9 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;

the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.

We’re reminded of the absolute and infinite value of the Word of God. According to these verses, it revives our soul, it makes our simple minds wiser;

The Word of God is seen in His law, His testimony, His precepts, His commandments, and His rules, bringing us to a reverent fear and recognition of our Father. And continuing, His Words cause our heart to rejoice and brings enlightenment to our eyes.

By His true and righteous words, we, again, bear a healthy, reverent fear of God, which is clean and endures forever.

What’s more is that this Word is alive in us and with us. Christ is the Word made flesh, and who dwelt among us. By His finished work, He has ensured that this Word is in our hearts and minds, for always – By His birth and life, He shared His Word.

By His death, He fulfilled the Word. By His resurrection, He proved the Word, and by His ascension, and by the pouring of the Holy Spirit, He sowed the Word, and effectively spread it in and through us.

Oh, indeed, blessings and honor and power ascribed to the name of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults.

13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me!

Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.

We have what is of eternal and infinite value, and infinitely superior to anything else that this reality demands we prioritize – We have the Word of God, and we have Christ, the living Word.

By this Word we are brought to see more and more of God’s grace and glory in this reality. By Christ, the living Word, we live and move and have our being.

Indeed, this is my prayer today, and I pray it sticks for a while:

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,

O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

Nothing too long, nothing too wordy – just wanted to go through this, that my mind would be calibrated, that my entire being would be prepared for all that is to come.

I thank God for life, love, and light – all guaranteed by the finished work of Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank You, Lord, for this time. Thank You, again, for power, love, and a sound mind. Thank You for the assurance that time is never wasted in You, and that You cause all things to work for the good of those who love You.

I lift all of my concerns and all of my worries to You, running to Your throne of grace, trusting in my Father to help me – as You have helped me so many times in the past.

I give praise to the Lord, for His faithfulness and His goodness – I thank God for His mercies that are new and fresh with every morning.

Father, be glorified today, as in all days – Be glorified and magnified to the maximum, and let the entire world continue to behold Your goodness… that they would be led to repentance unto salvation.

Thank You, Father, for everything. Just, thank You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. Amen.
