Faithful Foundation (Psalm 13) – August 13, 2025 (282/365)

Thankful to the Lord for today. Thankful for another day to live and breathe – Yes, actually, I’m thankful for another day to do more than to just exist and survive, but to live, and to breathe.

Thankful to the Lord for life – everlasting life. Life in abundance. Real life… and think that we’ve been denied for far too long.

Good morning, my neighbors.

Ahem. Sorry, I walked into that one. And, yes, I’m old.

Actually, I’m thankful that I’m old – thankful, that is, from the perspective that God has been THIS faithful to me ever since my first breath. Through all my bad decisions, choices and habits, He saw through all of it and still chooses to love me with an everlasting love…

and I’m thankful even further, because He proves this love through His Son – who, I imagine, was fully aware of all the filth and all the blunders and mistakes I’d give to myself and to others, and still thought I was worth suffering and dying for.

I’m thankful. The older I get, the more I see the value of everlasting Life, in a world that’s full of death and sin.

I’m thankful, actually, for my Mom – who, as of today, has added another year to her life in this world. To think – The Lord has been so faithful to me in my 40+ years, and surely He has been with my Mom for much more than that.

I’m thankful – that our God is faithful. That Jesus is faithful and true. That we are just… well, secure, really.

Standing on a firm Foundation and on a Rock – THE Rock of Ages, cleft for me. Thank You, Lord.

Thank You today, and always. Thank You, Lord.

Psalm 13

How Long, O LORD?

TO THE CHOIRMASTER. A PSALM OF DAVID.

1 How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

3 Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,

4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

5 But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

6 I will sing to the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.

In this season I’ve been taking in how the Lord doesn’t just help us as a response, but He helps us first – that is, certain things are pre-empted and He helps us, sometimes before we even realize we need help.

I’ve also been claiming that the Lord helps me, especially in things that I’ve long struggled with, and in burdens I’ve long carried, without any certainty of relief.

Here, again, we’re brought back to crying out to the Lord in waiting. And in all of this, I’m reminded – Our Lord is, as the Hillsong composition goes, our very present help in time of need.

I understand that He helps us in time of need. I have actually seen that as of late – not to go into too much detail but I was at wits’ end trying to find a replacement to take on a floating trip left unassigned in the early morning… until the client of the said trip actually called to cancel the same trip. I have reason to believe that the Lord helped me in that time of need, in a way that was out of my list of options. I mean, I was looking for a driver, but He moved the passenger.

Anyway. Consider the first part of the lyric: He is our very PRESENT help. I take that as our God being with us and faithful to us, for sure, but I could just imagine that our Father is always at the ready, focused on us and ready to help us.

And could you imagine how awesome this is? Then, consider that He is not only MY present help, but He is present, fully loving, fully gracious, fully glorious – to ALL of us in the Body of Christ.

Indeed, let our hearts rejoice! This is such a wonderful salvation that Christ paid for us – and we are thankful and joyful, secure and confident!

In fact we are so thankful, so joyful, so secure, and so confident, enough to sing praises, and to sing glory to His name.

Thank You, Lord! You are with us, for us, never leaving us, never forsaking us.

Thank You, Jesus! For once again we are not only reminded but refreshed by the Truth – that Your finished work guaranteed that NOTHING can ever separate us from the love of our Father.

Thank You, Holy Spirit! No matter what happens today and in the days to come, You have always been with us, and surely You will always be with us, equipping us, producing fruit in and through us, shining light, love and life through us in all circumstances and situations, in all victories, and in all failures!

Thank You, Lord, for everything!

Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father;

There is no shadow of turning with thee.

Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;

As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.

Great is thy faithfulness,

Great is thy faithfulness,

Morning by morning new mercies I see.

All I have needed thy hand hast provided;

Great is thy faithfulness,

Lord unto me.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,

Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above

Join with all nature in manifold witness

To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Great is thy faithfulness,

Great is thy faithfulness,

Morning by morning new mercies I see.

All I have needed thy hand hast provided;

Great is thy faithfulness,

Lord unto me.

Final shift of the week coming up. May the Lord continue to be glorified through it all.

Thank You, Lord. You are faithful and true. Halleluyah! Halleluyah! Amen.
