Jesus, the Wonderful Counselor!

shared by Mama Nitz

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

They thought He would come during the time of Isaiah, but little did our Israelite brothers and sisters know, the fulfillment of our prophecy was not for just Israel, but for the entire world.

Mama Nitz’ approach was to place common counselling points against the Word of God.

Ex. We worry, but God tells us not to worry. The Word tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and that we shouldn’t lean on our own understanding. Besides, how can you understand what you can’t understand in the first place? Sober up because there is a LOT that’s beyond our understanding… and PRAY! See, that’s how you lean not on your understanding, THAT’S trusting the Lord. Prayer is acknowledging God in our understanding, and in so doing, we are given peace beyond understanding.

40% of what we worry about doesn’t actually happen.

40% of things we worry about are in the past.

So the way I see it, if that’s true, we will always have a 60% chance of things happening…?

Stop worrying because you can’t do anything about it! We like to call it overthinking, but really, whatever we’re overthinking about, stop – we can’t do anything about it.

How was Jesus a Wonderful Counselor during His time?

He’s God. That alone is wonderful enough! Even until today, He’s wonderful. He hasn’t changed. While He was here, He counseled by way of doing miracles. That in itself was wonderful.

How else did He help? He was a literal doctor. He was a pediatrician who called the kids to come to Him.

He was an optometrist who made the blind to see. He was an orthopedic doctor who caused the lame to walk.

He was a lawyer who confronted the writers of the Law, with the Law.

His existence as a whole was a miracle. That should already help us against worrying.

Worrying causes depression. Worrying causes anxiety, and sickness, and weakness. Worrying makes us unproductive, and makes us work out of obligation rather than passion.

What are we to do? Do we set goals? We can, but when that doesn’t happen, that causes us to worry anyway.

If you thinking about what you want and not sure about getting it, you worry. If you don’t get what you want, you get depressed.

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we can confidently say,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Hebrews 13:5-6

He hears us, He is with us, and He helps us. What can man do to us? What can we do to ourselves?

Take note, again – He HEARS us. He listens to us. Prayer, therefore, is an act of faith, an expression of our trust in the Lord, with our words and thoughts. Prayer is an act of faith – when we pray, we believe He not only hears us, but He listens to us.

With that said, we can be honest with the Lord. It’s just as brother Juan says.

Worried about work?

23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, Colossians 3:23

Our work is an act of faith. We work, trusting in the Lord to be with us, and being aware that what we do is done in the presence of God Most High.

We work for God, we work FROM God. No matter what you do, He is with you. Work is difficult, but it’s supposed to be difficult – but it just gets that much easier because whatever we work, we work for the Lord, and from the Lord. Work is worship.

Worried about age?

26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.Psalms 73:26

4 even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.Isaiah 46:4

I’m 41 and I’m blessed. I’m 41 and I am a blessing.

Jesus is our On-Call, One-Time Big-Time All-The-Time Wonderful Counselor.

He deserves all the glory, He deserves all the praise.

He is beautiful beyond description.

He is too marvelous for words.

He is too wonderful for comprehension, like nothing ever seen or heard.

Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom?

Who can fathom the depths of Your love?

You are beautiful beyond description, majesty enthroned above!

Until the next post, God bless us all. Amen.
