Weekly Message Notes
Welcome to the Good News Aces, where ate Joy sings Joy – and even when we flub the lyrics, we just keep going.
Happy birthday Maam Susan!
Hallo Pastor Poppo! Nice shoes!
Emphasis on how things work ‘A’ to ‘B’, but also ‘B’ to ‘A’.
‘Ganun din lang’.
Worship
The cross before me, the world behind me, also the world before me, because the cross was behind me.
Christ decided, so I decided… and vice versa.
Communion – Ate Joy – Surrender because Jesus surrendered. That’s what we remember during communion.
Giving – Andrea – Testified re: Taxi and being thankful for the small things. We obey to be blessed, and we are blessed, so we obey.

Recap:
Last Week: Faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of God… but also:
43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.Acts 2:43
Awe inspires faith, and in faith, we are in awe.
1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple.
3 Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. 4 And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” 5 And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Acts 3:1-10
32 Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda. 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, bedridden for eight years, who was paralyzed. 34 And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.” And immediately he rose. 35 And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.
Acts 9:32-35
Focus on the Name first. Also, ‘in the Name of Jesus’, ‘Jesus Christ heals you’
Jesus is willing and able to help us. Recalled the leper who spoke to Jesus after the sermon on the mount.
11 While he clung to Peter and John, all the people, utterly astounded, ran together to them in the portico called Solomon’s. 12 And when Peter saw it he addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? 13 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him.
14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 16 And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
17 “And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18 But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ would suffer, he thus fulfilled. Acts 3:11-18
11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:11-13
20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1:20-21
Jesus (the mighty work of God) unto faith, and faith unto Jesus.
We have faith, and arrive to Jesus, or Jesus authors our faith.
‘Ganun din yun‘.
19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, 21 whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. Acts 3:19-21
3 We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, 4 but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, 5 beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; 6 by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love; 7 by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; 8 through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; 9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed; 10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything. 2 Corinthians 6:3-10
Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; 1 Peter 3:14b-15a
In a world where we overthink or where the world overwhelms us with things it says we’re supposed to think, let’s remember:
The light shines brighter in the darkness, and the truth shines brighter in the lies.
Be refreshed, and proclaim!
Proclaim, and be refreshed!
After the service I told the Worship team we’d be going through Acts 4… but I think after that we’ll start something new this July.
Until the next post, God bless us all.
