We praise God for everything that’s been going on so far this week. It’s been a blast, and I just thank God that through it all, He has firmly displayed revelations of His faithfulness.
He truly cares about us. It’s true that He always thinks about us. And here’s another thing – we like to say those truths about our God, and give glory to our Father as He deserves it, and the more we do proclaim it, the deeper it hits us, and it covers a broader area of our entire being.
In other words, the more we proclaim the Truth, the more we meditate on the Truth, the more true it truly gets into us. I know that makes absolutely no sense but it’s… well, it’s true!
And you may think that it sounds like indoctrination – and, sure, from certain perspectives, it does look like brainwashing… but, when you think about it, we’re already being brainwashed by countless other forces by default, especially in this day and age where much of the ‘increase of knowledge’ is focused on (1) the promotion of lies, and (2) the suppression of Truth.
Someone somewhere said sometime that we all worship something, and it’s only a question of what and/or who it is we worship. With all we’re talking about here so far in mind, I also submit that we don’t just worship something, we’re also meditating on something, we’re also processing/reprocessing people and things in our mind – and it’s also only a question of what we’re thinking about.
So, sure, we can think about our present suffering, our immediate surroundings, our diverse circumstances – we have mantras for enlightenment, meditation approaches for inner peace, breathing techniques for stress relief. We can think about our beliefs, or who we believe in, or who we care about, or who we assume cares about us; We can think of who likes us, who doesn’t like us, what we think of people, and what other people think about us…
…But one thing is for sure – out of everyone and everything mentioned here, and everyone/everything else I failed to mention, we can cast our cares, we can cast our anxieties, we can cast our time and our thoughts on the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
What makes Him any different? Of all things and all people, regardless of how much or how little attention we give this God – who is the God of all gods – the truth is He was the One who was thinking about us, IS thinking about us and all that there is concerning us, and WILL continue to think about us, in all His grace and glory.
We’re making the claim that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob thinks of us absolutely, consistently and faithfully, regardless of who we are and what we have done. And we take it further, by saying that all the thoughts He has for us are good. In fact, it’s a pretty prominent verse that we quote to back that up:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” – Jeremiah 29:11
We think about Him, and we are brought to think about Him, thankful because He thought of us first – and He has no evil thoughts toward us, but thoughts of peace – to give us a future and a hope. That’s the primary reason we are meditating on Him, we are focused on Him, we’re processing thoughts about Him; That’s the reason why we worship Him.
How can make such an audacious claim? How can we say that we think about God because He lovingly thinks about us? There’s another pretty prominent verse to back that up:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob thought of us first, and loved us first, that He gave us Christ. Because we have brought to consider the words of the Holy Spirit upon us – because we believe that Christ was born in the flesh, lay His life down, resurrected from the dead and ascended into heaven, we who were once separated and further alienated, being Gentiles, are now grafted in, fully reconciled to God that we are able to call Him our Father.
We believe Jesus Christ and all that He has done, and as such, we know we shall not perish, because we have eternal life – a Life fully reconciled to God, where we are free to enjoy all our thoughts towards Him, grateful that He was the One who thought of us first.
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.1 Peter 5:6-7
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?Romans 8:31
He cares for us. He is for us, and not against us. And the more we take this in, the more we’re able to navigate through life with Life, moving along with the Truth that sets us free in a world slowly but surely headed into oblivion, torn apart by lies.
We praise God, for indeed, through Him all blessings flow. Every good thing truly comes from Him, and He adds no sorrow to it.
We praise Him, joining with all creation here ‘below’, while we are in this side of eternity, in great anticipation, security and confidence.
We praise Him, calling out in the same boldness, to the heavenlies, for all hosts above to praise Him, confessing that He is Lord – Praise, praise and glory to God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever! Amen.
