Salvation, and Destiny (GNWMI Leadership Conference 2024 Notes, pt1) – September 21, 2024 (261/365)

Statements of Faith: Salvation

facilitated by Ptr. Joedy Lim

There is power in the word, and in the declaration. One of the two things mentioned by Paul in Romans 10:9-10 is for us to confess with our mouths that Jesus rose from the dead, you will be saved.

And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

John 12:23

Jesus is worthy to be glorified… and in these words in the aforementioned verse, He says those words BEFORE He does something wonderful… something that reaches to the ends of the earth, that everybody is reached by His love.

Pastor Joedy shifts to destiny: Why is it important for us to know our destiny? When we know our destiny, we understand our salvation, the process behind it, and the purpose to it.

When we understand the destiny of Christ, we would also have a really good idea of our own individual destiny.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor (grace and glory in the NKJV). No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

Psalms 84:11

For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

Psalms 5:12

When you find the destiny of Christ, you will find your own destiny. His cross and His resurrection play a critical role in His destiny.

Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. 8 For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.”John 12:3-8

Jesus knew His destiny and shared it to everyone present… right after Mary poured out a year’s wage worth of spikenard on His feet. And as Mary would do such a thing, it all starts, not FOR His love, but FROM His love. The root of worship is thankfulness and appreciation of who Christ is and what He has done.

Jesus knew that His existence on earth was meant to fulfill the mission of the Father, that is, to die for the sin of the whole world!

!!!What was Dad’s mission?

Getting ahead of myself here, let’s keep going. It’s no accident that following this incident of the spikenard, the account of Christ’s triumphal entry is written.

12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,

15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion;

behold, your king is coming,

sitting on a donkey’s colt!”

16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.John 12:12-16

The way to win is humility… and humility is to understand that the glory of God is manifested in His presence, through the knowledge of the Son.

Our King enters in humility riding on a lowly beast of burden, why? Because His enemy is not flesh and blood but a fallen archangel who was filled with pride.

3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Hebrews 1:3-4

8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

We were already loved when we were sinners… how much more does this realization resonate, now that we’ve been recreated from sinners to saints, through Jesus Christ?

We’re kind, patient, loving, and so on, because we have a grasp, as small as it is, of how God is kind, patient and loving to us… all, through Christ!

32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

John 12:32

Christ’s destiny was to lay His life down for us – the Son of Man loved us and lay His life down for us, demonstrating humility superior to pride, to the glory of the Father, and to draw all people to Him.

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

Romans 10:9-11

The ‘Bonus’ of Salvation

8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.Philippians 2:8-11

The glory of Jesus is seen in all of creation.

16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.Colossians 1:16-17

1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.

Psalms 19:1-3

3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. Psalms 8:3-5

You don’t change from the outside in… you are changed from the inside out, through Christ. Joy comes from the inside out. Why did God make creation so beautiful?

Jesus Christ is the glorious Word.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.Psalms 19:7-10

When you make a mistake in your confession, change it – that is your confession. Every day, make the right confession. Walk by faith – Believe it, say it, and see it.

Christ and the glorious cross:

23 And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

27 “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. 28 Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” 29 The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” 30 Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”John 12:23-32

Jesus displayed the glory of God’s sacrifice, forgiveness, abundant grace and His glorious love for mankind… and the glory of God in the church is our love for each other

The Glory of Jesus in the Church, through the Glory of His new Covenant / Commandment

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”John 13:34-35

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends.1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

‘You’re doing the right things for the wrong reasons’ Donn

There is no pride in love. There is humility in love. There is reason and purpose in love.

The best years are yet to come.

Until the next post coming very soon, may God bless us more and more.
