Light At The End Of Failure – January 4, 2024 (10/365)

from the December Thought Compilation – jb

If you knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, you would have a key to the universe.

– Nikola Tesla

Speaking of thoughts to catch and release versus thoughts to keep and dwell on, here’s one that came to mind. I thought I’d look through the verses of the Bible involving all three numbers and only those three numbers (3,6,9); My immediate thought was to look for verses mapped out as either 3:69 or 36:9… and this is what I came up with.

Some verses don’t really stand out as they state historical facts and figures:

These are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. – Genesis 36:9

The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits. All the curtains were the same size.– Exodus 36:9

In the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem proclaimed a fast before the LORD.– Jeremiah 36:9

Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem. He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD.– 2 Chronicles 36:9

Some had a little bit of ‘commentary’ but I struggled to see their relevance:

…then he declares to them their work and their transgressions, that they are behaving arrogantly. – Job 36:9

How then can you repulse a single captain among the least of my master’s servants, when you trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen? – Isaiah 36:9

…But some stood out:

For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown.Ezekiel 36:9

According to BibleHub, a cross reference for Ezekiel 36:9 is Leviticus 26:9: I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will establish My covenant with you.; ’tilled’ is converted to ‘cultivated’ or ‘plowed’, while ‘sown’ is ‘planted’ in other translations. Sort of makes sense: How can we be fruitful, and how could we multiply (as plants and trees multiply) if the land isn’t plowed first, and if we aren’t planted or sown first?

“…So no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another, for each of the tribes of the people of Israel shall hold on to its own inheritance.’”Numbers 36:9

At first I thought this was a swipe against how people immediately say that anyone, regardless of upbringing, history, status, etc.; ANYONE in the Body of Christ can claim ‘inheritances’ of material blessing, guaranteed healing, and pretty much everything else that separates a Creature of the Word from charlatans. I thought this would say that we each have our own personal inheritances, just as each tribe had their own unique inheritance; But I’m thankful because BibleHub reminds me to look at context, in this case, the verse before: Every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any Israelite tribe must marry within a clan of the tribe of her father, so that every Israelite will possess the inheritance of his fathers (Numbers 36:8).

I’ll let Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary share a little more here. What’s underlined adds to the actual point of Numbers 36:9, while what’s in bold are just thoughts that hit me:

Those who consult the oracles of God, concerning the making of their heavenly inheritance sure, shall not only be directed what to do, but their inquiries shall be graciously accepted. God would not have one tribe enriched at the expense of another. Each tribe was to keep to its own inheritance. The daughters of Zelophehad submitted to this appointment. How could they fail to marry well, when God himself directed them? Let the people of God learn how suitable and proper it is, like the daughters of Israel, to be united only to their own people. Ought not every true believer Israel, to be united only to their own people. Ought not every true believer in Jesus, to be very attentive in the near and tender relations of life, to be united only to such as are united to the Lord? All our intentions and inclinations ought to be subjected to the will of God, when that is made known to us, and especially in contracting marriage. Although the word of God allows affection and preference in this important relation, it does not sanction that foolish, ungovernable, and idolatrous passion, which cares not what may be the end; but in defiance of authority, determines upon self-gratification. All such conduct, however disguised, is against common sense, the interests of society, the happiness of the marriage relation, and, what is still more evil, against the religion of Christ.

Okay, maybe this doesn’t ‘stand out’ quite as much. Numbers 36:9 speaks more on the preference to stay away from intermarrying, and what ‘hit’ me was (1) apart from God not adding any sorrow to every good thing that comes from Him (Proverbs 10:22), the commentary also leads me to consider that we are not blessed at the expense of another member of the body of Christ – but does that even make sense? Because it clearly says that the early Church in Acts gave from their own belongings and possessions. What also ‘hit’ me was (2) yet another reminder of consulting the will of God, ‘especially in contracting marriage’. I’ll just say I acknowledge Him in all my ways, and surely, He shall establish my marriage… or at least my thoughts on marriage, attraction, sexuality, relationships, and so on.

Maybe it was worth going down this rabbit hole, if only for that last tidbit of… well, wisdom.

As you can see, this is an ongoing experiment. Now that I’m seeing all this, there’s no stopping me from just looking at 36:9 verses, but what about 3:6-9? Or does it have to be in that order? What about 39:6? 6:3-9? 6:39? 9:36? 9:63? 9:3-6? Not really sure if Tesla was thinking about the Bible when it came to those numbers, now that I see all these random possibilities… but hey, God willing, if I have any extra time, it’s worth taking a deeper look into.

But for now, one 36:9 really stood out high and above all my other findings – in fact, it was the very first one I saw:

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. Psalms 36:9

Looking at other videos that try to tackle what Tesla really meant, perspectives involving numerology, binaural frequencies, and the like are what are mentioned. And sure, that all may make a whole lot more sense than this ‘experiment’, but I’m just pleased to know one thing out of all of it: That in Christ is the fountain of Life; and in His light, we see light.

I’m sorry, I feel I wasted our time here… but I think it’s worth it, if I see it as us seeing the Light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey, I tried.

Anyway, as you can see I’m in the process of going through my thoughts last December, to see how it adds value for my message this coming Sunday. So more of this sort of random stuff, coming soon.

Until the next post, God bless you.
