Still. (Ps 46) – April 1, 2026 (130/365)

Psalm 46

God the Refuge of His People and Conqueror of the Nations

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth.

1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

Selah

4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.

6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

7 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Selah

8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth.

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

11 The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Last article it was discussed and discovered that the same words revealed to us and the same Word we are brought to speak at the beginning would be the same words we speak at the time of redemption. We looked at the example of Psalm 57 and Psalm 60, both David’s prayers for rescue against his enemies. The verses of exultation –  as in, the exact same words -in both Psalms make up Psalm 108.

I will praise You, O LORD, among the peoples, And I will sing praises to You among the nations.

For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches to the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, And Your glory above all the earth.

David wrote these words both during his time of trial, and after God delivered him.

We claimed, in this season, sort of as a general proclamation covering everyone and all their circumstances and situations, that we would be valiant, as was written in Psalm 60:

Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.

Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.

This set of verses may work for many.

But, praise God, because when we have specific situations that we’re having all sorts of trouble finding relief or a resolution, we will always have the opportunity to seek Him, and to dwell in His Word. That’s right, you don’t need to be a priest or pastor; All you need is the Holy Spirit (poured freely upon you the moment you believe in Jesus Christ) to guide you into specific Words of Life, exact verses from the Bible to proclaim during, and most likely after specific situations.

In my case, in an impossible, lose-lose, bridge from U2’s ‘With Or Without You’ situation, where things have further escalated but I’m chained by the most painful binds of nothing and no-one – Well, I’m brought to be still.

Here and now, I declare – I will be still, and I will know that God is who He says He is. It’s always good to seek Him, for we shall indeed find. I decided to dust off the old classical guitar and strum and sing – to hell with the rest of the world, I wanted to pour out my soul to the Lord, I wanted to take my entire being to complain about this particular circumstance…

And Father did not disappoint. Sure, I started things off by singing ‘Still’ in C, but for some reason I was brought to follow with ‘God Is Able’ also in C, a full step higher than its original key.

Singing through the lyrics, I found myself saying ‘amen’ one way or the other, again and again:

God is able, God will never fail

He is Almighty God (who is) greater than all we see, and greater than all we ask.

God is with us, God is on our side

He will make a way far above all we know, far above all we hope.

He has done great things.

A couple of songs later, and right before I decided to glide back to earth, I was led to sing Way Maker – and the entire song ministered to me. Never mind that I can no longer do anything. Never mind that I need to love by truly walking on, and walking away, EVEN in these times where literal life and death are involved.

God is moving in our midst, God is working in this place, God is turning lives around; He is touching, healing, and mending every heart.

Even when we don’t feel it or see it, He is working. He is saving. He is rescuing. He is reviving. He is awakening. He never stops working.

Because our Father is greater that all we ask, far above all we hope, and because our God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is working, turning lives around, saving hearts. I will be still. I will see with my own eyes that He works even when we don’t feel it or see it. I will declare here and now, and also when things unfold – I will be still, and know that He is the God who does great things.

I will be still, and know He is almighty God who is with us, and who is on our side.

I will be still, and know that He is our Refuge and Strength, our present Help in time of trouble.

I will be still, and know that He is the Lord of Hosts who is with us.

I will be still, and know that He is the God of Jacob who is our Refuge.

Regarding this situation, I will be still, and know that He is God – He will be exalted among the nations, and He will be exalted in the earth.

While this is the clear meaning of this part of Scripture, and while I will stand upon it here and now, through this trial… I couldn’t help but share another way I see it.

Because I’m not only going to be still… But no matter how discouraged I get, I will also be, still.

See the difference? I’m not only going to be still – as in, to be at peace, trusting the Lord to act; I’m also going to be – that is, I’m going to focus on being a human BEING and not a human DOING.

I’m going to be at peace, reveling in all that I am after Christ’s finished work. I shall continue to enjoy the new reality of being a new creation.

By Christ’s finished work we have been made righteous – therefore, we should revel in the glorious, full presence of the Father, Son and Spirit.

By Christ’s finished work we have been reconciled and restored – therefore, we move in peace unto power, and power unto peace.

Enjoy. We ARE New Creations. Recognize that the old that has passed away, has passed away; not that all this is dead, more that you’ve been given a new heart and a new mind with new mindsets, new dreams, new preferences, new priorities and new desires.

The old is dead and gone – there’s so much in the new to take in, and I’ll be meditating on all of that in the stillness…

…Thanking my Father, thanking our God for His faithfulness and goodness to me, even in these issues and matters of the heart so important possibly only to me. Oh, thank Him now, because He loves us THAT much to be thinking about us and all that we think is so important and vital in our lives, according to our extremely limited reasoning and senses.

He gives us His Word, and indeed, we are cleansed.

I am humbled. I am brought to stillness. Sweet, sweet stillness.

In stillness, there is peace.

In peace, there is power.

In the chaos, in confusion

I know You’re sovereign still

In the moment of my weakness

You give me grace to do Your Will

So, when You call I won’t delay

This my song through all my days

There is no one else for me

None but Jesus

Crucified to set me free

Now I live to bring Him praise

There is no one else for me

None but Jesus

Crucified to set me free

Now I live to bring Him praise

All my delight is in You, Lord

All of my hope, all of my strength

All my delight is in You, Lord

Forevermore

All my delight is in You, Lord

All of my hope, all of my strength

All my delight is in You, Lord

Forevermore

Today, of all days, this was realized.

Happy April Fools’ Day 2026.

God bless you.
