Hello again, folks. It’s been a while since I’ve been writing, reading, working out and praying… and now that (1) I’m feeling better after a nasty bout with cough and colds, and (2) I actually have some time to spare, I must say that it’s nice to get back to it…. And actually, now that I mention it, I really do think I should do these things as a priority in the morning. I mean, I’m plenty sure I could have spent at least an hour doing some writing, reading, working out AND praying, before I set out to more or less assist other people with their priorities.
So I just pray, now as in always, for the Lord to continue to transform me by the renewing of my mind. For reprogramming of my brain to occur even as I continue to flow, thank God, and trust God. May we get more done, but may I also never find it acceptable to neglect what ought to be done daily.
Okay, with that said, I think we can keep on going with Psalm 119.
Psalms 119:25-32
DALETH
25 My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word!
It is a sad thing to imagine how, no matter how our senses would say we’re ‘enjoying’ all there is in existence in particular moments, it’s our souls that have the ‘final say’; For we may be experiencing so many things that the world is calling pleasurable, or even just ‘good’, but it’s possible that our souls aren’t ‘in sync’ – to the point that we may be on Cloud Nine and our souls ‘cling to the dust‘ at the same time.
But now, as in always, our Father has the remedy, the Solution: That is, no matter how different aspects of our being may seem contradictory, He is able to give us true Life that transcends our physical senses, and our limited capacities to think.
He gives us Life ‘according to His Word’ which means (1) He promised in His word to give us Life, and He is always true to His word and promises to us, but also (2) He gives us Life as described in His Word – that is, again, life beyond more existence, and life to the end of time, and beyond – everlasting life.
26 When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes!
27 Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works.
In other Scripture we read of how our Father establishes our thoughts and directs our steps, when we acknowledge Him in all our ways and our plans. Here I’m reading of how the mere act of telling God of our ways – versus our having more intention in acknowledging Him – is already an act of trusting Him.
He knows what we’re thinking, He knows all the plans we care to formulate, and the desires we have trouble verbalizing… For us to tell Him what we have in our mind, and what plans we have, well, it’s so nice to read here that He is just as eager to answer us. Yes, as a response, He answers, He teaches us His statutes; God responds by making us understand the way of His precepts, and no doubt, in our awe, we would be brought indeed, to meditate, to ponder on His great and miraculous works.
28 My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!
29 Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law!
Again the Psalmist cries out to the Lord – not only does his soul ‘cling to the dust’ and dries out, but it also ‘melts away for sorrow’… but the thing is, even if we are drained and dried out, and even if we are pumped full of sorrow, and are melting away, it gives us even more cause to place our trust in faith in God – For not only does He give us true Life, but He also strengthens us.
And, as if in a simultaneous, consequent group of actions, He gives us Life and Strength according to His gracious teaching of revelations of the Word of Truth – but He also sets us apart from ‘false ways’.
30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.
31 I cling to your testimonies, O LORD; let me not be put to shame!
32 I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!
As a response to God’s faithfulness seen through His Word, no matter what happens to us, we are not only well-taught, but these last 3 verses share of how we literally overflow in praise and obedience. In other words, because of God’s great love and faithfulness towards us, we cleave more to this Way of Faithfulness. We are the ones who seek His word and His testimonies all the more.
We are given life and strength, and our hearts are ‘enlarged’, openly expressing our intention and desire to run according to His Word.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow! For the Word, the Testimony, the Commandment of God – by the great grace of God, ALL of it could be seen clearly and beheld reverently in Jesus Christ – the Word of God made flesh, or as I love to call Him, our Word of Life, and our Living Word.
Oh, by the power of the Holy Spirit, may we just continue to willingly involve more and more of our loving Father; May we continue to acknowledge our all-encompassing God, humbling ourselves and letting Him have free reign, that we would continue, not merely to move, but to flow with the Creator of the Universe, as we navigate our own way through His creation.
And, as always, may God be glorified to the maximum as the Holy Spirit guides us to do our best, for the maximum number of people, at any given moment.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!
Until next post, God bless us all.
