In this season, I’m finding myself writing for at least three ‘series’ – For what I talk about every Sunday (on the book of Romans to be precise), for what I’ve heard almost 10 years ago (Appraisal), and for all that I’ve been noting down from all the collaboration and conferencing going on as of late (Inventory); Now that I think of it I ought to be writing something that puts all of it together, and, on top of this, I’m also thinking about writing on two specific areas of Scripture: The book of 2 Timothy which has themes of Paul’s wisdom being passed on to his disciple, and 1 Thessalonians 5… well, for reasons I’m not ready to share just yet.
But here and now, I’m just going to let out whatever’s in my head, to declutter this brain, to defragment my mind. And if you’re familiar with how I do this exactly, it’ll more or less start with one of two things, and today it’s:
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
His mercies never come to an end.
His mercies are new every morning… indeed, they are new every morning.
Great is Your faithfulness, oh Lord; Great, great is Your faithfulness.
Indeed, He is faithful, even when our actions show a complete lack of faith in Him, and a glance back to our former faith in ourselves. He is faithful to us, He is for us and not against us, in spite of our stumbling; Great is His faithfulness towards us, no matter how the levels of our faithlessness and selfishness vary.
The Truth remains: He IS faithful to me, and His mercies for me ARE new every morning, and this stands no matter what happens around me, no matter what happens within me; He is truly faithful, no matter what I suspect is going on, no matter what sort of events are conjured only in my mind, and no matter what actually happens.
I thank Him, especially right now, because no matter how I react or respond to all the pressure in this season, His Holy Spirit is absolutely consistent in reminding me that even in these moments, I am righteous. Even in these moments, I can claim a connection, a bond, a link; I can claim absolute right-standing with God, much so that I can call Him my Father.
I thank Him; oh, I thank You, Father! For it is not by who I am, not by who You’ve made me, nor is it by anything I’ve done or chosen not to do – Not by my power, but it is by Your Spirit that I am healed, satisfied, corrected, and comforted… It’s all by and through Your Spirit, and Your Spirit alone, that I remain at peace and confident during these times of shaking, even if I’m the one doing all the shaking!
I thank You, Father! For only by Your Son, the ultimate expression of Your endless love – Only by Jesus Christ and by His finished work can I make the claim that not only do I HAVE the Holy Spirit, but this Holy Spirit constantly, consistently reminds me of who I am in You, what I have in You… and, really, that I HAVE You, and You HAVE me!
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!
Praise Him, all creatures here below!
Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts!
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! Amen.
God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – is worthy of all praise from all His creation. We recognize and appreciate, we worship in response of the truth that from Him all blessings flow – All good comes from the Lord, indeed, and He truly adds no sorrow to all He adds to us.
His blessings are countless, but in recognition of what we quoted earlier, we are thankful that at any season, His great and good blessings come to us – they come alive in us, they flow through us, they manifest in and through us.
We are always and will always be blessed by His steadfast love, lavished upon us in more ways than we could ever imagine. We are consistently blessed by the mercy of God – delivered to us new and fresh with every morning… and, by the day, it does come with His love, which also satisfies us in the morning, before anything and everything that comes our way!
We will always be blessed, by His faithfulness. He is faithful to us now, and He will continue to be faithful to us, in the times to come, to the end of time and beyond.
Thank You, Jesus! In spite of all I’m going through right now, I thank You! I am humbled by all that You are, and all that You’ve done, and I pray, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, and in Your Name, that I would continually be reprogrammed – in fact, I pray for expedient reprogramming and positive changes to start happening in my life, if I’m honest.
May I continue to rest and, more importantly, may I continue to move in peace beyond understanding, knowing that I have no grip and control over anything, but You work in everything, for the good of those who love You. Be glorified in all things, my Father! Praise You indeed, for through You do all blessings flow!
Father, thank You – You speak to us, and You minister to us. We give thanks, now and always, because through Christ we are healed, we are restored – Yes, You restore good memories to purge all that causes us to stumble. You restore secret, productive insights to take the place of condemnation, fear and anxiety.
I thank You, Father, for as the song goes, You give us strength for today – You sustain us, You nourish us, You preserve us, You empower us so we are consistent.
Thank You, for You give us bright hope for tomorrow – Through Christ, who not only sustains, nourishes, and preserves us, we are confident because His finished work is also absolute, encompassing the future just as much as the present!
Father, thank You, for surely You answer to all who ask You, myself included: ‘Father, won’t you give me Your goals, specifically for me? Won’t You instill what vision You have for me, specifically?’
But, finally, thank You, Father – because, though this isn’t anywhere in the song, I believe You also resolve our past. I believe that as You are present here and now, and are present in the times to come, so You are present, able to move where we can only lament and remember.
Rebuke me and correct me, Father, but I believe that when Paul said You are faithful to work all things for the good of those who love You, I’m assuming that our past and our future are part of ‘all things’.
All in all I am just thankful, Father, that we could run to You, not necessarily like this, in writing for all the world to read and scrutinize; Run to You, we will, in our time of need, in our time of desperation.
Thank You, Father. Thank You, for everything. Be glorified in all things, now and forever. In Jesus’ Name, amen, and amen.
