See The Need – August Thoughts – August 21-24, 2024 (239/365)

Hi folks. Just thought I’d churn out some stuff that I’ve had standing by here on Evernote for a little while. It’s stuff I thought I’d put aside to write a little further about… and as I did, well, it looks like we could put them all together for one big lesson.

Here goes.

So I’m doing my usual Social Media rounds and I stop to see (and save) this nice little graphic, shared by one of my friends:

Yes, of course he’s my friend. I keep saying that I especially follow these fellows in particular to be the first one to see when they, God-willing, post how they accepted Christ as their Savior.

Anyway, I was spurred to think by this. If, by ‘life’ this man refers to existence in this reality, then I’m inclined to agree – I’ve seen enough of the human condition and the consequences we’re all enduring as a species… and I shudder to think of how it would look if this went on forever. I am also not interested in eternal co-existence with sin.

Then again, I’m also quite fascinated by the prospect of living forever – I imagine we have a pretty good idea of what it means to have life without end… but what about life without sin?

A life without sin is a TRUE life – a life without death, a life without fear. It’s a life where there is only righteousness – that is, a life absolutely and always reconciled to God.

Eternal life is life without end, and life without sin… and it’s also life without beginning – that is, a life that is not bound by time; I dare say, it is a life without borders.

And while we’re probably not going to fall into the trap of thinking that eternal life is this current existence lasting a very, very, very, very long time, I should probably stop us here – stop us from trying to speculate what it is any further, beyond me saying that ‘whosoever believes in (Christ) shall not perish but have everlasting/eternal life’

We can speculate in wonder all we want… but we should just be confident and at peace, knowing that eternal life is not without Jesus Christ.

And we’ll never see enough of Him.

I’m nowhere near getting as much money as I used to get.

And I’ve come a long way, to having close to nothing in the bank.

I’m not ashamed to share it, because it’s not the only thing I’m going to share.

I’m not spending or paying for my food, but somehow, I’m being fed, and fed very well. Over the past days there’ve been meetings, and meetings involve eating, and I’ve been eating a lot. It’s like I’m being sustained..

..But I’m also being reminded of the importance of wisdom – that is, to ‘use’ whatever I eat wisely; to discern the right things to eat out of all the many choices, but at the same time to enjoy the food so as to provide the proper appreciation to whoever’s footing the bill.

I’m not getting nearly as much cash as I used to, but I’m in dire need of wisdom to properly utilize whatever is in my hand at every single moment.

I’d like to also add that I want to be wise in my working out, in the use of my time, in the use of my phone (definitely related) – I NEED wisdom, in everything!

So funny that I’m talking about how we’ll never see enough of Christ… which is fair as much as it is true, because we desperately need Him – ALL of Him, as our living Word, and as our Wisdom, in this wretched world.

I see the Psalms like responses, even reactions to whatever life throws at us. I see the Proverbs as wisdom for any actions we choose to take in this life.

There are 150 Psalms in the Bible.

There are 31 Proverbs in the Bible.

And that’s probably a sign for us to think about our reactions, at least 5 times more than our actions. It’s just right, because we will have time to ponder on our actions, but our reactions are more developed, the more things happen to us.

Fortunately, we have Christ, and we have the Holy Spirit – We’ll never get enough of them, we’re always in need of them – apparently, regarding our reactions, more than ever.

So it’s clear that we need Christ. We realize this, even if we do know that we already have Him, and He has us, here and now – and He’s not going anywhere.

We need Him as wisdom in this fallen world, considering what needs to be done, and what we already have. We need Him as our wisdom – not only in our actions, but especially in our reactions as well.

What’s good is that we have Him. Or, rather, in these times that we are presented with the realization that we desperately need Him, let’s thank Him – because no matter what, through Christ, we already HAVE God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Let’s see Him in everything, knowing that He sees us through, He sees all of us, He sees in us and around us – He knows all there is to know about us, and is still for us, knowing what’s best for us.

Let’s continue to trust in Him, in our actions and reactions

Let’s trust in Him, whether we see Him moving in all that’s going on, and also when we’re not ‘feeling’ Him.

He is with us, and we are with Him, now and forever. Thank You, Lord.

Until the next post, I pray that all of us are well taken care of by our good Creator, who we call our wonderful Father. I pray we remind each other, and are reminded ourselves, of the Holy Spirit, who continues to convict us of our righteousness, even in all we’re going through right now – in all that’s happening, in all that isn’t happening, and so on.

I pray we have a good weekend, I pray we’re caught by surprise by some good news, good news that’ll only come by way of His grace, by Christ and His finished work, and by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Be strong, be vigilant, in Jesus’ name.
