Going in-depth to Worship being a response

Whatever you say you are, follows you. What you confess, you possess. With that in mind, we understand how worship is a declaration.

Different expressions of Worship

  1. Psalm 23 – Declaring God’s goodness: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.Psalms 23:6
  2. Psalm 136 – Thanksgiving: Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever. Psalms 136:1
    1. The key to a happy life is a thankful heart. This is a scientific fact: More gratefulness, more happy hormones.
    2. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

  3. Psalm 100 – Singing: Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!Psalms 100:2
    1. The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.Zephaniah 3:17
    2. You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the LORD.Psalms 32:7-10

  1. Psalm 34 – Magnifying the Lord together – I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!Psalms 34:1-3
  1. Psalm 150 – Praise God with different ways, various reasons and with our breath of life
    1. Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in his mighty heavens! Praise Him for his mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
      1. Just as prayer moves you as much as it moves the mountains, so praise shifts your focus from yourself to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
    2. Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with lute and harp! Praise Him with tambourine and dance; praise Him with strings and pipe! Praise Him with sounding cymbals; praise Him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
      1. Praise Him with all your senses, for indeed, you have been created to worship!

Let God ‘Wow’ you with Different Expressions of WOW:

  1. Words of Wisdom – Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.Psalms 119:18
  2. Works of Wonders – You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.Psalms 40:5

  3. Wondrous Nature of the Wonderful Father – Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!Psalms 34:8
    1. To be an effective person, not just an effective pastor, note that every good thing you receive from God is a testimony. Taste, and see.
    2. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!Psalms 107:1
    3. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.Psalms 46:1

Benefits of Worshipping Together

  1. Worshipping God with His people is a pleasurable / joyful experience, because God chooses to manifest His presence when His people praise Him together and they experience unspeakable joy!
    1. Joy is contagious! Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.Philippians 4:4
  2. Worshipping God together is a powerful experience – When we worship God together, He shows forth His power, deliverance, salvation, and healing! – For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”Matthew 18:20
    1. God manifests what we all agree on in prayer AND in praise.
    2. And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the LORD and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, “Give thanks to the LORD, for his steadfast love endures forever.” And when they began to sing and praise, the LORD set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed.2 Chronicles 20:21-22
    3. And at the seventh time, when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city. And the city and all that is within it shall be devoted to the LORD for destruction. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall live, because she hid the messengers whom we sent. But you, keep yourselves from the things devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted them you take any of the devoted things and make the camp of Israel a thing for destruction and bring trouble upon it. But all silver and gold, and every vessel of bronze and iron, are holy to the LORD; they shall go into the treasury of the LORD.” So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown.   1. Worshipping God together is a glorious transforming experience
    1. and it was the duty of the trumpeters and singers to make themselves heard in unison in praise and thanksgiving to the LORD), and when the song was raised, with trumpets and cymbals and other musical instruments, in praise to the LORD, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever,” the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.2 Chronicles 5:13-14
